Rustic festive dessert tables from And The Dish Ran Away With The Spoon for a cosy winter wedding

Charlie

Christmas wedding dessert table

It is increasingly popular at weddings to have a whole table of cakes or desserts rather than a single traditional tiered wedding cake; I had my own with cakes made by our wedding guests, and recently I shared this beautiful new wedding dessert table service from TNWC business And The Dish Ran Away With The Spoon.

Well, Anna and her team from And The Dish Ran Away With The Spoon are back with a festive version, ideal for a winter wedding or Christmas wedding – I was instantly in-love with this dreamy display of cakes, pies, and desserts.  All of them are handmade at their bakery in Manchester and they even come and style the table for you, so it looks this beautiful.

I’m going to be taking inspiration from this for my Christmas celebrations!

Anna told me a bit more about this festive cake service: “We wanted to take our standard dessert tables and add a festive twist – if you have a winter wedding we can offer a spread that is delicious and decadent in equal measure!  You can treat your friends and family to a range of treats, from delicious mince pies made with our own homemade mincemeat recipe, to the very decadent pear and whiskey tart, or pecan and bourbon brownies.”

My autumnal styled stall at the Eco Wedding Fair with seasonal flowers and ideas for wedding table centrepieces

The Natural Wedding Company stall at the Eco Wedding Fair

On Saturday I shared Jennie Hill’s lovely photos from the Eco Wedding Fair (you can see it all here), and today I’ve got my pictures of my stall and a few more details about how I decorated it. Perhaps you’ll find some inspiration for your wedding or just an autumn or winter celebration you might be planning.

We arrived at Riverstation in Bristol at about 9am and first we had to: unpack a number of boxes of what at first glance probably looked like a pile of junk, carry two heavy buckets of sand up a flight of stairs, and manoeuvre a bundle of 7ft long bamboo canes.  I was so pleased that the other exhibitors had equally quirky bootfuls for their stalls!

Rustic wedding decorations

My mom and I had two hours to set up before visitors started arriving, so here’s what I did with the mottley collection of items.  I used a pair of curtains to cover my table – they are a rather fun botanical print style curtain with what looks like horse chestnut leaves on them, and they ended up working in perfectly with that autumn feel I was going for.

The two metal buckets of sand went either side of the table and they held some of my bamboo canes – apologies this is the best picture I have which shows the bamboo canes and bunting

An ethereal harvest photoshoot with a dove grey vintage wedding dress and wildflower bouquet

Natural harvest bridal shoot

We may grumble about the days getting shorter, the air colder, and the nights darker, but there is something truly magical about this time of year.  With a desire to capture some of this beauty, this harvest inspired bridal shoot was dreamt up by photographer Rebecca Douglas and make-up artist Suzanna.  It’s got some lovely inspiration for anyone planning an autumn wedding.

“We wanted to capture the pure essence of young love at its most beautiful, in the most stunning of settings – our quintessential Kent countryside.  With the cascading colours of late summer call us to capture the moment, what could be more beautiful than to celebrate this montage of golden evening glows with the glory of young love?”

An end of summer bridal bouquet inspired by the approaching change in season

End of summer bridal bouquet

I love the colours in this end of summer bouquet from one of our new TNWC businesses, The Garden Gate Flower Company.  This bunch of gorgeous flowers was picked from their cutting garden in Cornwall yesterday and they dropped me an email to share it with me – and I thought it only right to share it with you all too.

Rebecca from The Garden Gate Flower Company told me, “Inspired by the slight change in the air and the browning of the leaves, this bouquet will still keep any bride happy with its cheerful red sunflowers and the second flush of yellow roses!  It just goes to show an autumn wedding can still be a lovely time to get married….only problem is I’d never through this bouquet over my shoulder!”  I don’t think I would either!

Heavenly midsummer photoshoot in a field of cow parsley with pink rose flower crowns

Cow parsley field

Today’s blog feature is just so pretty and I’m delighted to be able to share this series of photos from photographer Svetlana Batura (who you may recently remember from this gorgeous Lithuanian family farm wedding).  I spied them on her blog and asked if I might share them, as I know there is a good following amongst you who love cow parsley as much as I do.

These images take me back to an imagined childhood and provide some nice inspiration for bridesmaids for a relaxed wedding – long skirts, pretty blouses, flowers in their hair and a bouquet of cow parsley.  Bliss.  Enjoy…

Inspiration for a spring wedding menu featuring foraged wild leaves and edible flowers

Spring wedding picnic in a field

Sometimes emails land in your inbox that totally inspire you, I had one such email last week from Sarah at Eat My Flowers with her ideas for floral inspired menu.  Immediately I was dreaming up a spring wedding picnic based on her menu ideas and thought that you all might like to be inspired as well.

Why not serve your wedding guests a slightly different take on the English afternoon tea, starting with dainty sandwiches filled with organic free range egg and wild hedgerow leaves.  Almost too pretty to eat!

Free range eggs and wild leaf sandwiches

Sarah suggests “Swap one layer of the free range egg mayonnaise with a selection of wild leaves such as sorrel and hedge mustard, and edible flowers such wild rocket, violas and mustard.  The peppery leaves and flowers make a novel alternative to cress.”

A spring birthday party to celebrate five years of The Natural Wedding Company

Charlie

Honey and lavender birthday cake

It is with great pleasure that I get to share with you the photographs from The Natural Wedding Company’s 5th birthday party that took place recently.  I’m not really sure where to start, so I’m just going to dive in and hope it all makes sense!

Spring lunch party

March saw the website’s 5th anniversary of when I first launched it, so I knew a few celebrations were in order.  As well as lots of exclusive offers and competitions on the blog, most excitingly, a party was dreamt up.

Hand-painted wedding favours

I wanted a party with a group of likeminded girls, some recently married, others still planning their wedding, so I opened up the invites to my wonderful readers.  My guests were chosen, invitations sent out, and on Sunday 15th April, my husband and I welcomed 11 of my lovely readers into my home for, what I hoped would be a fun afternoon of crafts, cake and wedding chatter.

Make your own natural spring wreath by finding inspiration in the hedgerows

Charlie

spring hawthorn wreath

Regular readers will know that on Sunday it was the TNWC 5th birthday party, which was held at my house with 11 lovely guests – all readers of the website and blog.  I made a number of items for the party, which I hope to share with you, but to start with I wanted to share this natural hedgerow wreath I created.  All the photos are taken on my phone so nothing fancy!

My hedgerow wreath was created using hawthorn cuttings, mostly green ones, but I managed to find a few with the pretty white blossom already out.  Before I go any further I must say I wouldn’t recommend you to use hawthorn, even though it is so beautiful and so seasonal at the moment.  Why?  Because it droops incredibly quickly – more on that below.

A jug of English grown white tulips and branches of delicate blossom for a pretty spring wedding

White tulips and blossom from Green and Gorgeous Flowers

It is lovely to be able to share some inspiration from one of the businesses listed on The Natural Wedding Company directory this afternoon.  This beautiful spring arrangement of white tulips and branches of blossom was put together by the lovely Green and Gorgeous, and I think just captures this time of year.

If I was getting married now, I would have jugs of these white tulips and blossom everywhere – such a simple combination but artfully arranged by Green and Gorgeous – and all seasonal and English grown, can you really get any better than that?

Seasonal Highland inspired November wedding

Seasonal and handcrafted November wedding

It is lovely to be able to share such a beautiful seasonal wedding full of handmade details, and one that took place in November.  Photographed by Laura Babb, Dan and Ali’s November wedding was held at Folly Farm, a stunning green wedding venue set amongst 250 acres of woodland and nature reserve.  On hearing more about this handcrafted wedding I knew it was just the kind of wedding you would love to see.

“When we found Folly Farm we knew it was the right spot. We completely lucked out with the weather on the day, it was hard to believe it was November – but as we fell for Folly Farm’s vantage point and woodland walks on a dreich February morning, we knew it would be beautiful no matter what.”
