Cool and quirky buttonholes made from felt

Charlie

I recently came across a fabulous Etsy seller called Fairyfolk, which inspired me to showcase a few unusual but frankly cool felt buttonholes.  Now I’m the first to admit I’m a complete sucker for fresh, seasonal flowers, but these are enough to persuade me otherwise…

Woodland Boutonniere

These fun and elegant woodland inspired buttonholes are handmade by Etsy seller Fairyfolk.  I love how simple this idea is, but how stunning the result is – just three different coloured tiny ‘wool blooms’ and a pretty earthy brown ribbon.

My plans for the weekend: sleep in a tipi, cook breakfast over a fire, and stargaze

Charlie

All of the above things will be possible this weekend, because this is where we’re off to…

If you didn’t know this is Cornish Tipi Holidays – they also run Cornish Tipi Weddings who are listed on the directory.

I also plan to eat lots of clotted cream and scones, go rock-pooling, listen to the Fisherman’s Friends in Port Isaac, trough my way through a dozen pasties, cook a campfire dinner or two, laze about Wind and the Willows style in a wooden rowing boat, and maybe cycle the Camel Trail.

I will be taking lot so snaps (if I’m not too relaxed!) so that I can share with you what this magical sounding place is like.  Perhaps a possible for your honeymoon list, or if you’re looking for a wedding venue this could be your place.  I will be back next week with a full report.

Featured in Simply Beautiful Magazine with a step-by-step guide to making my ‘save the date’ cards

Charlie

I am so excited to share with you that I’m in a real life magazine.  Never did I imagine 7 years ago when I started dreaming up what became The Natural Wedding Company that I would be featured in a glossy magazine.

You can find me in the September issue of Simply Beautiful Magazine sharing details about our wedding stationery and a step-by-step guide with never-seen-before photos of how to make my ‘save the date’ cards.  I created this especially for the magazine so very excited to share it.

There’s also some of my top tips for having a greener wedding and saving money while you’re at it – so if you’re interested in having a read, get down to your local WHSmith and get a copy.  Would love to know what you think if you’ve had a read.

Plant a tree to remember your wedding day with the new Tree Campaign from World Inspired Tents

Charlie

This summer World Inspired Tents, one of the wonderful businesses listed on the directory, launched their Tree Campaign.  It’s a simple idea – everyone who books their tents received a tree sapling.

So once the excitement of your wedding day is over and you’ve enjoyed a wonderful evening beneath the romantic tipi canvases, you can get home and plant your tiny tree and have a lasting reminder of your happy day.  Each tree sapling comes wrapped in hessian, tied with string and with a personalised card (recycled, of course).

A roadtrip to the Love My Dress Summer Soiree

Charlie

Last night I was lucky enough to have an invite to the Love My Dress Summer Soiree in Newcastle.  My outfit included painful but gorgeous peeptoe shoes, the first ever pair of patent leather shoes I’ve ever owned!  I always wanted them when I was little but was never allowed them.

Mark and I drove together and ate a glamorous dinner at Little Chef.   The party was held at the BALTIC Centre and was full of gorgeous people in equally gorgeous outfits.  We drank cocktails, munched our way through scrummy cake pops and shoe-shaped biscuits, watched an incredible burlesque performance, and took some bad photos in the photobooth.

Our rustic country wedding – afternoon tea in the garden before the ceremony ~ part 2

Charlie

If you missed it, yesterday there was part 1 of our pre-wedding afternoon tea in my parents garden – do check it out before reading on or it all might be a bit confusing!

So we’d set up our afternoon tea tent, the scrummy scones and strawberries were out, and pots of stripey paper straws alongside old-fashioned lemonade were ready.

When our family and friends began to arrive, me and Izzy happened to be getting ready in a room above my parents drive, so we could see people arriving.  This is one of my favourite photos from the wedding – check out Alex’s stunning dress (she’s getting married next April in Cornwall – I can’t wait for their wedding!)…

Here is some of the lovely photos Mark shot of people enjoy afternoon tea in the garden – 18 months of hard work starts to come to fruition…
