Our rustic country wedding – a church full of cow parsley

Charlie

As voted for by you, I am moving onto the flowers in the church before continuing with our wedding ceremony.  I’m excited to share this, because I just loved how the church looked, it was more than I could have dreamed of and we did it ourselves.

If this is your first visit to the blog you can catch up on all the details so far from our wedding here.

I’ve decided to show you photos of how the church looked and then go back to how we did after.  That way I get to show off all the pretty pictures first.  At the entrance to the church we filled two old metal milk churns with cow parsley and grasses – quite a wind picked up and I love how it looked blowing in the breeze.

My top vintage wedding dresses from Etsy

Charlie

This pretty vintage dress made in the late 1970’s would make a beautiful wedding dress for someone having an understated wedding or a couple who are eloping.  If Mr Rigg and I had eloped this is what I would have worn, in my mind it inspires dreams of spending a summer living on the edge of a prairie.  It costs around £20 and is available from Coldfish Vintage.

A 1950’s floral lace wedding dress with 3/4 length sleeves and a long train – this dress is romantic and you can almost imagine it on a fairytale princess.  I would carry a bunch of blousy old-fashioned roses or a spray of wild daisies.  This dress is from deLightly Used and costs just under £200.

This pretty eco wedding dress is made by Kimmi Designs from a selection of reclaimed laces.  It is made out of three pieces, the skirt, a top, and the sash.  Possibly my favourite of all the dresses found here.  It costs just over £400.

Our rustic country wedding – across a field of buttercups and down the church path

Charlie

It feels like a while since I posted the last installment of our wedding, and I feel rather ashamed that I’m taking so long and dragging it out – you all must be bored of hearing about it by now.  If readers, you’d like it shorter and snappier, please tell me.

One of the loveliest parts of our wedding, is that my parents house (where we had afternoon tea and the reception would be held) is at the end of the church path.  This meant, everyone could walk, myself included – no fancy vintage cars frothy with ribbons or stretch limos for me.

Thankfully the weather had been dry the week before our wedding, so my dad had mown a path from the back of their garden across the corner of the field and to the church path.

Garden of Eden inspired eco chic wedding dresses made from bamboo

Charlie

The fabulous Julie Dutton, who is listed in our directory, has been busy showcasing her eco chic wedding dresses as part of a garden and stand at the Chelsea Flower Show.

These stunning wedding dresses are made from sustainable bamboo, which Julie says “is soft and luxurious to handle and drape.”  For me, these dresses really demonstrate how diverse the choice of ethical fabrics is and that you don’t have to comprise on style.

A magical woodland wedding venue in the Cornish countryside

Charlie

It’s hard to know where to begin telling you about our visit to Cornish Tipi Weddings because you really have to visit to get a feel for what this place is really like.  You need to go and soak it up, all the beautiful photographs will only go so far in showing you what a special place it is.

I’ve supplemented my own photos with those from Cornish Tipi Weddings and Green Photographic as I think that seeing weddings happening on site gives you the best feel for what it would be like, short of visiting yourself.

Following our directions to Cornish Tipi Weddings (also Cornish Tipi Holidays) we pulled off the lane and headed down a bumpy track.  We were greeted by Oggy, the warm and welcoming warden who takes care of the site, before following him down into the woodland towards our tipi.  All the paths were just like this…

Green Photographic

The site is set amongst 16 acres of secret woodland, each tipi nestled amongst its own woodland glade – ours was high up above the lake and aptly named ‘Overlake’.  Cornish Tipi Holidays is just like camping, but you don’t have to take a tent or cooking equipment, these are all provided.  This was our tipi…

Get natural glowing skin for your wedding

Charlie

There can’t be many girls out there who don’t want to look and feel utterly beautiful and healthy on their wedding day.  After all those hours we spend at the laptop searching for wedding inspiration and the nights hand making all the pretty details, it’s not soon before we can start to look like an extra for the Twilight films.

I have fair skin, but I still want to have a healthy glow, especially when summer seems to only last for one month in April these days.  So this fab sounding natural product – Skin Glow Body Cream – from award winning Evolve is right up my street.  Available and on sale from The Natural Works Company it contains a tan boosting sugar extract to give you a natural hint of colour.

A wildflower meadow grown especially for a wedding on an organic farm

Charlie

Can you believe it – this stunning wildflower meadow was grown especially for a wedding on this pretty organic farm?  I’m a bit bowled over and hadn’t even considered that a florist might be able to grow you a wildflower meadow especially for your wedding.

I’m sure ordinary florists can’t, but this is what I think is so fantastic and special about the wonderful businesses listed on the directory.  Some of them can grow you a wildflower meadow, like this one which was grown by Charlie Ryrie of The Real Cut Flower Garden for a bride who wanted colourful meadow flowers sweeping up to their reception in that stunning dome.

I’m in awe.  And wishing I could get married again, to Mr Rigg of course, but just do it all over again and steal these wonderful ideas.  Nothing more can be said.
