Pretty pink blossom crown for a blushing bride

Charlie

This gorgeous cloud of vintage pink flowers brings out my inner girlieness.  It is so pretty and feminine, and oh so romantic – it melts that feminist side of me that and takes me back to my childhood.  I find some of the nicest things that I love the most are those that remind me of my childhood, its funny how that is.

You can find this pretty pink floral crown at WhichGoose, which if you haven’t yet checked out the creations by this talented lady you should go and drool over them all now.

A summer season of natural and vintage inspired wedding flowers

Charlie

For many of the flower businesses listed on the directory who grow their own flowers, they will have just finished up a long summer wedding season.  Rachel from Catkin Flowers told me she’s been non-stop since May – phew!  So it’s been nice to get a chance to catch up with her and find out what she’s been up to this summer.

Catkin Flowers are based in Lincolnshire where they grow all their own seasonal flowers and foliage in their cutting garden.  Rachel has been sharing with me some of the beautiful creations she’s made for weddings this summer and I thought you’d all like to have a look at them too.

Rachel has done the flowers for a lot of vintage inspired weddings, such as this one in a Papa-Kåta tipi, and this stunning trailing bouquet…

Antique lace wedding dresses for the modern bride

Charlie

Now I appreciate that these wedding dresses are not within everyone’s budget, but I thought they were too beautiful not to share with you – if only for eye candy or inspiration.  These dresses are inspired by vintage wedding dresses and are covered in antique lace from England and France.

I love that for vintage wedding dresses, which are so often from the 1950’s, these are inspired by the 1900’s instead.  Bring on the real old school glamour I say – I think I must be a real romantic at heart.  I knew I always had a soft spot for a period drama.

These two dresses (on the left ‘Maimuna‘ on the right ‘Helen‘) are from Charlotte Casadéjus.

Utterly gorgeous natural flower girl dress

Charlie

Why is it you always come across the ideal items after your wedding?  I spent so long searching for lovely flower girl dresses, and now I’m starting to see them everywhere.  This one has the added bonus that it’s made with natural organic cotton and has pretty hand crocheting detail.  I love it – it’s so pretty and everything I was after for my littlest flower girl.

Available from Pure Pixie and costs about £40.

Vintage key and ribbon buttonhole

Charlie

I thought this was a pretty neat idea for an alternative buttonhole – whether you fancied buying it or having a go at making something similar yourself.  It uses a vintage key, which you can find at carboot sales, antique and junk shops, or online (try Etsy or Ebay).

I’m sure with not too much fiddling you could figure out a way to secure the key to the ribbon.  But if not, this is a steal at just over £10 from the talented WhichGoose.

Exquisitely illustrated eco-friendly wedding stationery

Charlie

This post is long over due – I met the lovely Nia of Nia Fiori at the Love My Dress Summer Soiree back in August and I just adore her stunning illustrated cards.  What’s particularly fab, is she’s brought out a range called ‘Friendly Fiori’ which is eco-friendly.

Nia was kind enough to send me one of her cards and they are really lovely – the simple palette of colours, the black text against the brown card, and the odd bit that glistens makes for a beautiful handmade card.

What do you do with your wedding dress after the big day?

Charlie

As I realised this weekend that it’s been over three months since our wedding and my dress is still hanging from the curtain rail in our bedroom, it made me wonder – what do you do with your wedding dress when you wedding has been and gone?

I walk past my beloved dress twice a day – once waking up in the morning, and once before I go to bed – and yet I only see it covered carefully in its protective jacket.  Is this a fitting end for my beautiful gown, a dress that cost so many pennies of hard-earnt money, a dress that made me feel so beautiful for a whole day, and a dress, that you could say, I had been dreaming of since I was a little girl?

Well it got me thinking, what do other girls do with their wedding dresses, and do soon-to-be brides have a plan for their gown after the big day?

So to begin with, it’s over to you – what did you do with your wedding dress, or what are your plans for it after you’re married?  I’m hopeful some of you dear readers will share your thoughts and ideas.  There is so much hype and talk and dreams of ‘the dress’ I thought it was about time we talked about happens to them when the wedding is over.
