Timeless autumn wedding in Lithuania
You might well have spied this stunning autumn wedding from Lithuania out on the web already, but when I saw it I just knew that it was the kind of wedding that you’d love to see – so I got in touch with photographer Svetlana Batura to ask if I might share it.
For me this beautiful Lithuanian wedding is one of those timeless weddings that just melts my heart – it has a few exquisite season-inspired details, a couple very much in love, and other than that it makes the most of the landscape and time of year in which it takes place.
Lina and Vygantas wanted a down-to-earth wedding that reflected the season, and incorporated autumnal details like Lina’s romantic handmade wool wedding dress and brown leather lace-up heels.
Their wedding day started out in their sweet and cosy home, full of original details and the quiet excitement that often comes on the day you get married.
This wedding so effortlessly ties into its surroundings – from the warm wood floors and rustic church door…
And the soft candlelit church…
To the berry and apple bouquet…
Svetlana said, Lina and Vygantas wanted their wedding to be natural and close to the seasons – a November mood. Apples in the bouquet…warm and soft handmade dress…last leaves caught on the heel…and a romantic garden of apple trees…
I think we all need a quiet moment alone, just the two of us after our wedding ceremony, and for Lina and Vygantas they found a quiet spot amongst an old orchard where he played his guitar, and Svetlana captured some sweet pictures.
Their photographer Svetlana told me that she had spied this beautiful old chair in a corner of Lina and Vygantas’s home and asked them if it was particularly special to them. When I heard the story that this chair came from Lina’s childhood, on which she did her homework, I asked to take it with us – maybe just for some inspiration.
Don’t you just love this bride’s style, with her delicate wool dress and that coral red knitted cowl – it just shows how beautiful an autumn or winter wedding can be, you just need to think outside the standard wedding world bubble.
I love this wedding, for its timeless feel, natural details and the way in which it embraces the season so beautifully. A huge thank you to photographer Svetlana Batura who let me share this exquisite wedding with you all. Photography for me is like poetry for a poet – I’m writing history and colouring in the soul of the person I’m taking pictures of.
