Winter hair garland of wax flowers and ivy

Charlie

wax flower and ivy garland

If you’re planning a winter wedding for 2012 and you fancy something quite earthy and in tune with the natural world, then this gorgeous hair garland of wax flowers and ivy would fit in wonderfully.  Whether it was worn by your bridesmaids, or yourself (I could only dream of being gutsy enough to pull it off), it would certainly add to that ‘mid-winter’ feel.

I’m imagining something along the lines of roaring log fires, mugs of hot mulled cider and lots of ivy hung everywhere…very Robin Hood.  I think these flower garlands would be equally at home at a wedding held at country house hotel. It’s such a beautiful combination of greenery and flowers.

Timeless autumn wedding in Lithuania

You might well have spied this stunning autumn wedding from Lithuania out on the web already, but when I saw it I just knew that it was the kind of wedding that you’d love to see – so I got in touch with photographer Svetlana Batura to ask if I might share it.

For me this beautiful Lithuanian wedding is one of those timeless weddings that just melts my heart – it has a few exquisite season-inspired details, a couple very much in love, and other than that it makes the most of the landscape and time of year in which it takes place.

Rustic country wedding (part two)

If you missed Emma and Gianni’s rustic country wedding part one from yesterday, do take a read first.  After their beautiful outdoor wedding ceremony, Emma and Gianni continued their wedding festivities at the beautiful Cripps Barn in Gloucestershire.

The countryside around Cripps Barn is beautiful and provides the most gorgeous natural setting for photographs.

Don’t you think that Emma’s colour palette of pale dusty pinks and peaches are beautifully reflected in the soft golden colour of this wheat field…

Emma & Gianni rustic country wedding

Rustic country wedding (part one)

Today is pretty exciting on two counts – the new website has been launched and I get to share with you my first exclusive wedding.  This wedding has not been featured on any other blogs so I am utterly honoured that Emma chose The Natural Wedding Company to be the first place to share her beautiful wedding.

Emma told me that The Natural Wedding Company “was my bible during the planning of the wedding and I used many tips and links that you posted.”  So without further ado, here is part one of Emma and Gianni’s rustic country wedding photographed by the talented Andy Rapkins.

Emma and Gianni were married in July 2011 at Cripps Barn in Gloucestershire.  They planned a simple, relaxed and rustic wedding full of handmade pieces, charity shop finds, and meaningful details crafted by family and friends.

The theme was eclectic vintage meets ‘Darling Buds of May’ – we did a lot of the details ourselves and what we didn’t do we worked with friends and local suppliers.

We chose Cripps Barn because we wanted somewhere relaxed, informal and peaceful.  The owners of Cripps Barn have a really relaxed yet organised approach, also all the food was locally sourced and we’d heard how amazing it was.  Gianni has a large family with lots of children so we wanted somewhere they could be free to play.

Our rustic country wedding – an outing with Carrots the pony

Charlie

Today’s photos are some of my favourite from our wedding and I’m really excited to be sharing them with you all.  After the church ceremony and ice cream outside, Nick and I left across the field on a simple pony and carriage, which took us down the country lanes for a short while just the two of us.

My mom is solely responsible for organising this – as a teacher in the village primary school she knows a lot of local people, and John who took us out in his pony and carriage is one of them.

I’ve had a love of horses and riding since before I can remember, as a little girl growing up in London I used to dream of moving to the country and having riding lessons.  That finally happened when I was six, and I think for my 7th birthday I got my first lessons.

Autumn rustic barn engagement shoot with DIY details

Charlie

I am really excited to share these photos with you – they are the first official engagement photos to be shown on the blog and aren’t they beautiful!

The bride- and grooom-to-be, Ashley and Nate, wanted to create a unique ‘save the date’ announcement that they could send out to their guests.  They are planning a rustic barn wedding so wanted to create a similar rural country feel to their engagement photos.

An eco-friendly beach wedding with natural handmade decorations

Charlie

Today I have some beautiful inspiration for anyone planning an eco-friendly, rustic beach wedding.  Lucy Dyer is a wedding planner who has a really hands-on approach, often making table plans and seating cards as well as doing the decor.  She created this castaway, rustic island inspired wedding at a beachside restaurant.

The brief from the couple was lots of natural decor, no plastic and manmade products – they wanted it organic and natural.  Lucy spent months gathering driftwood and shells from the surrounding beaches, which she used to decorate the venue.

Exquisitely illustrated eco-friendly wedding stationery

Charlie

This post is long over due – I met the lovely Nia of Nia Fiori at the Love My Dress Summer Soiree back in August and I just adore her stunning illustrated cards.  What’s particularly fab, is she’s brought out a range called ‘Friendly Fiori’ which is eco-friendly.

Nia was kind enough to send me one of her cards and they are really lovely – the simple palette of colours, the black text against the brown card, and the odd bit that glistens makes for a beautiful handmade card.

Our rustic country wedding – afternoon tea in the garden before the ceremony ~ part 2

Charlie

If you missed it, yesterday there was part 1 of our pre-wedding afternoon tea in my parents garden – do check it out before reading on or it all might be a bit confusing!

So we’d set up our afternoon tea tent, the scrummy scones and strawberries were out, and pots of stripey paper straws alongside old-fashioned lemonade were ready.

When our family and friends began to arrive, me and Izzy happened to be getting ready in a room above my parents drive, so we could see people arriving.  This is one of my favourite photos from the wedding – check out Alex’s stunning dress (she’s getting married next April in Cornwall – I can’t wait for their wedding!)…

Here is some of the lovely photos Mark shot of people enjoy afternoon tea in the garden – 18 months of hard work starts to come to fruition…
