My favourite picks from CRED Jewellery’s ethical engagement rings

Charlie

CRED Jewellery are one of the latest businesses to join The Natural Wedding Company jewellery, and after having a browse through their beautiful collection, I wanted to share my favourites with you all.  For all those boys out there looking for an engagement ring to propose then keep your eyes peeled.  Here are my favourites…

CRED Jewellery fairtrade sapphire engagement ring

If you’re looking for something a bit different and unusual there is this beautiful Liana teal sapphire set vines engagement ring.  The sapphire is ethically sourced from Malawi, and the band is made from Oro Verde™ 18ct yellow fairtrade gold.  It is designed by celebrity jewellery designer Sophie Harley.

CRED Jewellery fairtrade diamond engagement ring

I love their Brilliant cut diamond stacker engagement ring because it’s similar to my own engagement ring.  At its centre is  single conflict-free fully traceable 0.10ct diamond and it’s available in both Fairtrade and Fairmined 18ct yellow gold and 18ct white gold, or in platinum from their partners Oro Verde™.

Dainty engagement rings with an ethical heart

Charlie

There are lots of wonderful businesses listed on the directory, those who have a strong committment to the environment, to ethical sourcing, to re-using, and to handcrafted items.  It’s always nice to have a browse at what they’re all up to and discover what they’re up to.

Oria Jewellery is one of those wonderful businesses – they are an ethical jewellers and I spotted these beautiful rings on their website today.  I think either would make a stunning engagement ring – the one on the left is quite similar to my own, and I love the detailing of the other with the tiny flower encasing a diamond.

Oria Jewellery supports small-scale, fair trade companies and are passionate about respecting our environment.  All of their metals and diamonds can be traced back to the mine they came from.

Buying an engagement or wedding ring is a big expenditure for most people, and its one purchase that you can make a big difference with by choosing one from a reputable, ethical company.

Woodland and seaside engagement shoot with antique engagement ring and muddy wellies

Charlie

Today it’s a blog special, with an exclusive photoshoot from photography Kelly Weech.  It’s a sweet engagement photoshoot of Lydia and Ben who planning a Devon wedding that reflects their love of the outdoors.  The photoshoot took place in woodland near to their home and on the beach where Lydia proposed to Ben – I love it all ready!

What I think is down-right wonderful about these photos is that the couple seem so genuine.  These are photos of a couple very much in love, captured in the places they are at home and comfortable in.  The pretty details in this shoot are an out-of-this-world beautiful antique engagement ring and a cute dog.

Excellent discounts on ethical engagement rings and wedding bands

Charlie

I was very sad to learn this week that one of our fabulous ethical jewellery businesses, Leblas, is closing down.  It’s a real shame as their jewellery is beautiful and was so popular, even amongst royalty!

However, it means that they are holding an incredible closing down sale so there are some incredible discounts to be had on their ethical engagement rings and wedding bands.  Their rings are either recycled or fair trade and with discounts of over 50% on some items it’s not to be missed!

Our gifts of love should not fund hate

Charlie

diamondring

An email from Greg Valerio over at CRED Jewellery popped into my inbox today with the subject line ‘Our gifts of love should not fund hate’.  Here’s what Greg’s email alerted me to:

Zimbabwe’s Robert Mugabe is selling blood diamonds on the world market.  His army has seized diamond mines, 200 civilians have been murdered, and profits are used to finance political militias.

I’ve just signed an urgent petition urging international regulators meeting in Namibia this week to ban Zimbabwe diamonds, sending a clear message that we do not want the rough diamond trade financing war and violence as we have seen in the recent past in Angola & Sierra Leone.

We have just 24 hours to persuade regulators to act.  Join me by signing the Avaaz petition below and let’s get a massive petition together that will be delivered directly to the meeting in Namibia.

I too have headed over to the website to sign the petition, so please take a moment to add your name to the list and support this petition.

If you are looking for ethical wedding rings you should take a look at CRED’s website as they use ethically-sourced diamonds to create their beautiful jewellery.

A token of love – my ring

Charlie

myring

Now, although I love all things wedding related, I don’t go in for overly romantic gestures of love.  My poor boyfriend Mr Rigg (fiancé is still too weird a word to be using at this stage!) always has a lot of pressure with what I do and don’t like – you could probably call me fussy, or particular, or plain difficult – but I’d rather be honest and everyone be happy ultimately.

With all this in mind, the lovely man in my life managed to commission a ring especially for me, that was designed and made by the lovely Etsy seller Kate Szabone, in Canada, with a conflict-free diamond, and get it all the way to Italy to ask me to marry him without my knowing.  Impressive, eh?
