Today it’s a blog special, with an exclusive photoshoot from photography Kelly Weech. It’s a sweet engagement photoshoot of Lydia and Ben who planning a Devon wedding that reflects their love of the outdoors. The photoshoot took place in woodland near to their home and on the beach where Lydia proposed to Ben – I love it all ready!
What I think is down-right wonderful about these photos is that the couple seem so genuine. These are photos of a couple very much in love, captured in the places they are at home and comfortable in. The pretty details in this shoot are an out-of-this-world beautiful antique engagement ring and a cute dog.
Whilst I love looking at all the creative details you see so often in engagement shoots, I think sometimes it all gets too much and I want to just see genuine, normal people, who haven’t been styled by a professional, and who are wearing muddy green wellies, not gleaming red Hunters.
Lydia’s antique engagement ring came from a shop in Cornwall – she wanted a pre-loved ring as she wanted something that had a story, a history to it, things she felt reflected her style and approach. I love the blush coloured gem in that unusual oval shape.
Their photographer, Kelly Weech, told me that Lydia is busy planning all sorts of unique handmade details for their wedding, using natural items found in their local area. I’m hopefully Lydia might share some of them with us after her wedding.
I think we could all do with a break from feeling like we have to be so perfect all the time – both in our everyday lives and on our wedding day. I hope these photos will inspire you to feel comfortable with who you are as individuals and as a couple. Is anyone else like me and terrible at putting pressure on themselves to make their life appear more ‘perfect’?
Check back this weekend when Kelly shares why she thinks pre-wedding photoshoots are beneficial and lots of fun. And if you’re looking for more inspirational engagement photoshoots, you might like this rustic barn inspired shoot.

where can you get that ring from?!
CharlieB on 16. March, 2012
Hi Adella, unforutnately because it’s an antique ring it’s a one off, so you won’t be able to find the exact same ring for sale anywhere (at least it’s highly unlikely!). My suggestions would be to look in antique shops or online for an antique ring that has the same sort of feel if you love that design, or to commission a jewellery designer/maker to create you something similar (you can find some here https://thenaturalweddingcompany.co.uk/category/100/jewellery.html). I also have an offer on bespoke jewellery designs on the blog at the moment (https://thenaturalweddingcompany.co.uk/blog/2012/03/get-a-champagne-afternoon-tea-for-two-at-the-wolseley-and-10-off-commissions-from-ethical-jewellery-maker-jane-runchman/). Hope that helps xXx
