Country tea party wedding at South Farm

I’m utterly delighted to be able to share Anna and James’ relaxed country tea party wedding on the blog today.  They got married at South Farm in Cambridgeshire back in June and the lovely Dasha Caffrey captured their wedding.

Handmade wedding menu

“Our idea was to have a really relaxed country wedding with bunting, vintage tea cups and hopefully an outdoor ceremony if the weather was good enough!  James and I are also real ale enthusiasts, so we had a good number of polypins [barrels] of beer on the bar, which along with the pimms and croquet, helped create a lovely village fete type atmosphere.”

Vintage country wedding place setting

“We fell in love with South Farm as soon as we saw it – it has a very natural charm and just felt like a friendly place.  We thought it would be totally out of our budget, but decided to go and have a look anyway as it’s only about 20 minutes from where we live.”  It turned out a number of Anna and James’ friends had either been married there or been to weddings at South Farm and all highly recommended it.  “I guess having so many personal recommendations just clinched it for us!”

An end of summer bridal bouquet inspired by the approaching change in season

Charlie

End of summer bridal bouquet

I love the colours in this end of summer bouquet from one of our new TNWC businesses, The Garden Gate Flower Company.  This bunch of gorgeous flowers was picked from their cutting garden in Cornwall yesterday and they dropped me an email to share it with me – and I thought it only right to share it with you all too.

Rebecca from The Garden Gate Flower Company told me, “Inspired by the slight change in the air and the browning of the leaves, this bouquet will still keep any bride happy with its cheerful red sunflowers and the second flush of yellow roses!  It just goes to show an autumn wedding can still be a lovely time to get married….only problem is I’d never through this bouquet over my shoulder!”  I don’t think I would either!

White Memoirs Vintage Wedding Fair

*Please note the ticket giveaway is now closed 29/08/12*

White Memoirs Vintage Wedding Fair is returning to the historic Stockport Town Hall on Sunday 7th October 2012 from 11am until 4pm.  The second of its kind, the wedding fair looks set to be bigger and better, providing a fuller vintage experience for brides with over 50 independent bridal suppliers.

The original fair took place in February and showcased over 40 North West bridal suppliers and hosted an amazing competition to ‘Win your dream wedding’ worth over £2,000!  New additions to the October wedding fair include a Victorian Gin Parlour serving G&T’s in teacups, an exclusive wedding dress catwalk show from bridal boutique The White Closet, and a unique opportunity for brides to get involved in the ‘Bridal Boot Sale’.

Blush Rose Events

White Memoirs ‘Bridal Boot Sale’ will offer brides the chance to sell their pre-owned wedding items such as clothing, accessories, and decor from their big day.  A ‘Bridal Boot’ table has recently been snapped up by vintage gurus Matt Nickson and Annabel Holland of Vintage 78 Gramaphone DJs, who will be celebrating their wedding day in September at the stunning Victoria Baths.

Eco-friendly birch bark cake toppers and confetti for a woodland wedding

Charlie

Birch bark bird wedding cake topper

One of my Favourite Finds recently is this Etsy shop who are creating these beautiful wedding items from biodegradable birch bark.  There is a wonderful selection of cake toppers (like these cheerful little birds above), cupcake toppers and mini flags, birch bark confetti in the shape of leaves or hearts, and even a cute little ring bearers pillow.

This is the birch bark confetti, which is full compostable making it a great eco-friendly option.  I think it would be particularly nice at an autumn or winter wedding…

Announcing the winner of the illustrated wedding map from Pigeon & Quill plus a surprise!

Charlie

Illustrated wedding map winner

I always love sharing a competition winner with you, and today is no exception.  A couple of weeks ago I launched a fantastic competition to win an illustrated map of your wedding day events from new business Pigeon & Quill (website coming soon).  There were loads of lovely entries for this competition, so a huge thank you to everyone who entered.

Alexandra, the illustrator behind Piegon & Quill has spent time reading through each entry and reading about your lovely wedding plans.  I think she has found it really difficult to select just one winner (I know I would have struggled!) but she has made her decision…

Illustrated wedding map winner

Alexandra told me, “After careful consideration i have chosen Myfanwy and Tom!  Myfanwy provided such clear imagery and there are lots of things in there that I’d love to draw.  Her description instantly conjured up a very clear picture in my mind – the sausage dog, the sea, cider barrels, pottery hearts, a wedding tipi, Wales, textiles – it’s really different!  I know exactly what to do with it and I hope that Myfanwy and Tom will love all of my ideas and that they will end up with a map they can cherish.”

Quirky hand embroidered ties for your groom, best man and ushers

Charlie

Mama Wolf handmade wedding ties

I came across Mama Wolf when she mentioned a piece I’d written about being a good wife on her blog.  Sandeep who is the self taught seamstress and proud owner of Mama Wolf, describes her business as a mens fashion accessories label.  In particular, Mama Wolf produces super cool neckties and has recently launched a bespoke wedding tie service.

Having spotted these latest ties on her website that she created, I really wanted to share them, not only because there’s not often a lot for boys on wedding blogs, but also because they are pretty darn cool.

Embroidered wedding ties

Sandeep told me that the bride and groom wanted five wedding ties in a rich orange cotton with embroidered motifs, “each motif represented something personal to the groom, the best man and the ushers.”

Crochet lace jam jar hangers to create soft twinkling lanterns

Crochet lace jam jar hangers

I’m sure at some point someone will declare jam jars and their many uses at weddings “so last year” in fact, they probably already have.  At any rate, I don’t care – there is something wonderfully simple and pleasing about a jam jar filled with flowers from your garden, or flickering as a lantern in the evening with a tealight – whether it’s at your wedding or in your home.  Especially knowing that in a previous life it contained jam, honey, chutney or some other condiment.
