The Natural Wedding Company 'bride' badges

If you’re reading this on Saturday 3rd November 2012 then I am busying myself on my stall at the Eco Wedding Fair in Bristol.  I’ve been pretty excited about this day, not only because I love getting out and about in the world of weddings, but because this is the first ‘eco’ or ‘green’ wedding fair in quite a few years.

Just some of the post that’s been arriving from TNWC businesses…
Post

I’m really hopeful that I’ll get to meet a couple of TNWC readers (so if you’re going please do come and say hi) and some new brides-to-be who haven’t yet been to the website.  With regards to what my stall looks like, as I write this I’m still not sure!  I’m pretty certain that other wedding fair exhibitors have planned theirs out weeks in advance…me on the other hand, well, my stall is currently a jumble of of ideas in my head and a car that looks like I’m going to a carboot sale not a wedding fair.

Get an exclusive 20% discount on beautiful bougainvillea petal confetti from Bespoke Confetti

Charlie

Bougainvillea petal confetti

This bougainvillea petal confetti is pretty stunning, and not something I’d come across before until an email popped into my inbox from Rosie at Bespoke Confetti.  I think it would be particularly fitting for an autumn wedding (the petals remind me of leaves!) but it would be lovely at any time of the year.

Plus, Bespoke Confetti are offering an exclusive discount to TNWC readers – you can get 20% off your order of bougainvillea petal confetti when placed before 31st January 2013.  I’m a huge fan of real petal confetti, Rosie from Bespoke Confetti even gifted me some of their beautiful mixes for my own wedding last year.

Rosie tells me, “Our bougainvillea petal is hand-picked and air-dried.  The colours are beautiful for autumn, embracing all the autumnal hues of mellow orange and salmons, burnt russets and golds.  It looks glorious laid as carpet in an entrance, as a table decoration, and works really well as throwing confetti.  It is a completely natural confetti, biodegradable, and as such considered non littering and eco-friendly.  It will blow away with the wind and weather, and become autumns rich compost.”

Natural bougainvillea wedding confetti

If you’re here reading The Natural Wedding Company blog and using the directory to help you find wedding suppliers with eco credentials, like me you probably like to know a little about the story behind the products you’re buying.  Well, Rosie from Bespoke Confetti kindly told me about the bougainvillea petal confetti and how they came to include it in their products.

Charlie

Handmade wedding favour pouches

Today I get to share a wonderful DIY project from TNWC business Razzle Dazzle Rose.  Run by Sharon, Razzle Dazzle Rose stocks a fantastic selection of eco-friendly brown craft products, including various sizes sheets of card (including postcard size), favour boxes, envelopes, and place cards.  If you love recycled brown card and are planning your wedding then you’re bound to love Razzle Dazzle Rose.

To help inspire you, Sharon is sharing with us a DIY project on how to make these very cute wedding favour pouches – I think they’d also make great gift boxes for Christmas.  So without further ado, I’ll pass you over to Sharon from Razzle Dazzle Rose to show you how to make them…

Handmade Wedding Favour Pouches

Step 1 – Firstly, you need an A4 sheet of the 275gm Kraft card (available from Razzle Dazzle Rose).  Please note, the 300gm kraft card available from Razzle Dazzle Rose is too thick and won’t crease as easily. Cut the A4 card to 8.5 x 11 inches.

Natural harvest bridal shoot

We may grumble about the days getting shorter, the air colder, and the nights darker, but there is something truly magical about this time of year.  With a desire to capture some of this beauty, this harvest inspired bridal shoot was dreamt up by photographer Rebecca Douglas and make-up artist Suzanna.  It’s got some lovely inspiration for anyone planning an autumn wedding.

Christine and Joe’s intimate woodland wedding with vows beneath a beech tree

Woodland wedding ceremony

Intimate woodland wedding with vows beneath a beech tree

I have such a lovely wedding to share with you today, which will be of extra interest to anyone considering a woodland or outdoor ceremony, because Christine and Joe had one of the most beautiful looking wedding ceremonies I’ve seen.

Their photographer, Emma Stoner, is one of the talented wedding photographers listed on The Natural Wedding Company directory, and I’m thrilled to be able to share this wedding with you.

West Lexham wedding venue Norfolk

On a sunny August day, Christine and Joe were married in the grounds at West Lexham in Norfolk in an intimate woodland ceremony beneath the boughs of a red beech tree.  “We wanted an intimate and joyous feel for our wedding, as if we were in the heart of our community and supported by them.  It was important to us that everyone had a good time – despite having to work for it by making contributions!”

Emma Stoner Photography

“We wanted to find somewhere that we could get married outdoors, near trees and water.  I guess you could say it was symbolic to us as I love water and Joe loves woodlands.  In personality, I think of Joe as the strong, grounded one, and me as the strong, flowing one!”

Emma Stoner Photography

“We chose West Lexham because it felt like the right place – we could get married under the boughs of a beautiful red beech tree by a little river.  Also, the site had camping in bell tents, a swimming pool, gardens, rowing on the river, as well as cottages and the manor house.”

The heavenly new collection from The Vintage Wedding Dress Company including Victorian and Edwardian inspired gowns

Charlie

Victorian inspired wedding dresses

I am so, so excited about showing off these beautifully new wedding dresses from The Vintage Wedding Dress Company because I think you’ll love them as much as me.  It was literally it was love at first sight when I spotted them.

The Vintage Wedding Dress Company are well known for their incredible collection of original antique wedding dresses, but they’ve also branched out into their own collection of vintage inspired gowns, and their newest designs have my heart aflutter.

There is a massive fan base out their for 40s and 50s style wedding dresses, and more recently 20s and 30s inspired, but what I really love are the older dresses, Edwardian and Victorian era and I’m delighted that The Vintage Wedding Dress Company have bought out a few new designs with these eras in mind.

Join me as we step into a fantasy world of exquisite wedding dresses…

Victorian style lace empire line dress #1

Victorian inspired wedding dress with Chapelle lace

This incredibly feminine Victorian inspired dress is made from Chapelle lace over soft satin and has an empire line.  Again, there is a wide range of styling additions that you can add to make this dress exactly how you want it, for example long lace sleeves or there’s even a shorter knee-length version if you want something a bit more modern.  Take a look at TVWDC website to see a few other examples of this dress.

Eco Wedding Fair in Bristol on Saturday 3rd November 2012 – and I’m going to be there!

Charlie

Eco Wedding Fair

It has been a long time since the last green or eco wedding fair was held in the UK, so I am utterly delighted to be sharing details of an upcoming one being hosted by one of our TNWC wedding venuesRiverstation in Bristol.  This is the first Eco Wedding Fair to be held in the South West and looks set to showcase some fantastic regional businesses.

Organised by Riverstation’s wedding co-ordinator, Michele Jetzer (who scooped UK’s Best Wedding Co-ordinator at the 2012 Wedding Industry Awards) the Eco Wedding Fair will bring together an exciting range of likeminded exhibitors – from organic cakes to alternative transport providers, and vintage crockery hire to florists growing their own blooms.

Wedding sign

The Eco Wedding Fair also promises fashion shows and handmade workshops for brides to get creative and make anything from flower buttonholes to wedding favours.  I’ve also been told there’s going to be goody bags for the first 100 brides to pre-register online (details below).
