Vintage inspired postcard save the dates made by a TNWC couple

Vintage postcard save the dates

It’s been a while since I shared some of your lovely wedding stationery designs, and I get some utterly lovely emails from you all with snaps of your designs attached.  So I decided I’m going to get better at sharing them with you, and to start with I’ve got these lovely vintage inspired postcard save the dates from Matt and his fiancée Candice.

Matt and Candice are getting married in January 2014 in the Lake District, because Candice is Australian they’ve had to be super organised ahead of time to give her family plenty of time to plan for their wedding.

Vintage postcard save the dates

Matt told me a bit about their save the dates and how they made them:

“I am Cumbrian born and bred, and my fiancée and I are getting married in the Lake District.  I bought old vintage postcards from eBay (bought in a bulk lot of around 20 for about £10) – I wanted an old look to them, so I discoloured the backs of them with tea bags.  Once dry, some of them did tend to curl up, so you can just flatten them out under some heavy books.”

Old postcard save the dates

“Originally, we were going to add some old British stamps, but then I stumbled across these stickers from MOO (90 stickers for £4.99) – you can either upload photos or you can connect via Facebook.  We chose 9 photos and got approximately 9 of each.”

“We got a stamp made up to look like a postage mark, there are lots of companies online who do them – ours came from Speedy Stamps.  Then it was just a case of coming up with a poem – sorry that mine’s so cheesy, but that’s just how I am!  I have a friend who has lovely handwriting, who kindly wrote all the cards out for me, I think handwritten looked more effective over printed.”

“Finally, we sent them out in brown recycled envelopes, but there are lots of companies online who sell envelopes specifically for postcards.”

A huge thanks to Matt and Candice for sharing their handmade postcard save the dates.
