Plantable seeded paper for eco-friendly wedding stationery

Charlie

I can remember the first time I came across flower seeded paper, it was way back when I was first starting out with The Natural Wedding Company.  It only ever seemed to be available in America, and even now it never seems to appear that often in the UK, so it is truly lovely to see these fab products from one of our businesses, Favour Haven.

The idea that you can create something beautiful from the paper and then plant it and have pretty flowers grow from it, is in my opinion, wonderful.  Favour Haven sells these lovely favour tags, which come in four designs, are available in different colours and can be personalised for your wedding with your names and date.

Vintage silk saree bunting

Charlie

I came across this stunning silk bunting made from vintage sarees on one of the businesses listed on the directoryGanesha is a fair trade shop that sells gorgeous gifts, accessories and bits for your house – but this bunting really stood out.

I’m beginning to feel like I’m a bit bunting-ed out, the stuff is all over the wedding world, you feel like you won’t ever see an original piece of bunting and that it’s only ever floral or Cath Kidston-inspired.  Then you stumble across bunting like this, which is not only made from vintage silk, but it’s also recycling an unloved product, and on top of this each string is unique.

Lovely at a wedding, but also perfect for a hanging in your bedroom.  Yey for interesting and different bunting!

Ethereal country wedding headband

Charlie

This Friday, Cake Love has been usurped by this gorgeous find…

If I had been a bit more of a daring country bride, I would have gone adorned my hair with something like this.  My seven year-old self would have thought it fit for the flower fairies that lived at the bottom of my granny’s garden.

Handcrafted by Rosie Weisencrantz, this is an original Victoria wax floral spray, that she wove onto a natural looking headband.  I was devastated to discover that it has already been sold (not that I’m planning on getting married again anytime soon!), but there are lots of other gorgeous hair adornments crafted from vintage pieces available on the website.

Honeymoon heaven staying in a Shepherds Hut set on the riverbank at Otter Camp in Gloucestershire

Charlie

Anywhere called Otter Camp and described as something out of a Swallows & Amazons novel is enough to get me interested, so when I saw this tweet on Canopy & Stars’ Twitter I headed off to investigate.

If you’re not already aware of the Canopy & Stars website – the luxury camping arm of Sawday’s – then pull up a chair with a hot drink and set aside some time to flick through pages of incredible and magical places to stay.

From Gypsy caravans in the Scottish Borders to a Cornish roundhouse, from tipis in Shropshire to a woodland cabin in the Cambrian mountains – Canopy & Stars has a long list of places to stay that are straight from your childhood imagination.

A 1950s style blue vintage swallow bridal fascinator

Charlie

A Alicia Handmade is one of those websites I could spend hours looking around at all the pretty handmade goodness.  So when I spotted this new addition to her collection I couldn’t resist sharing it.

Sky Blue Vintage Swallow Bridal Fascinator

Handmade in London from vintage materials, including a gorgeous swallow brooch, ruffles of vintage ribbon and clouds of blue net.

This adorable fascinator would look great on a bride, bridesmaid, or even a mother-of-the-bride – in fact, anyone!  Sometimes items just come along that you fall in love with, and this is one of them.

All that combined with a price tag of £42 I don’t think this will be around long – so if, like me, you’ve fallen in love with it – go snap it up now!

Spotted on Etsy: vintage lace Victorian wedding dress

Charlie

I spotted this vintage lace Victorian wedding dress on Etsy and thought it was so pretty it should be shared.  My wedding dress is made with 100-year old lace, so I particularly love this era for its delicate cream coloured lace.  It is so pretty and feminine.

These older vintage dresses seem quite rare – is anyone else wearing something similar for their wedding?

This dress can be seen here and you should also check out rest of the vintage bridal dresses in this shop.

Sustainable wedding lingerie inspired by the English countryside

Charlie

I have found some time to search my own directory for delightful bits for my own wedding.  I am on the hunt for a pair of pretty (and hopefully ethical) knickers to wear under my wedding dress.  I came across these from LuvaHuva

LuvaHuva creator and designer Joanna makes sustainable lingerie that celebrates an “elegant feminine style.”  Her inspiration comes from her childhood home in the Suffolk countryside  – I’m in love!  Gorgeous, ethical, country-inspired lingerie.

If you’re looking for more ethical lingerie have a look at the ‘Accessories’ page on the directory – and let me know if you’ve found any other others.

Pretty one-shoulder wedding dress made from eco-friendly hemp fabrics

Charlie

When it comes to searching for a eco-friendly or ethical wedding dress these days, you are spoilt for choice.  Conscious Clothing is an American based company that has been creating beautiful clothing using environmentally-friendly hemp fabrics since 1995.

This new gown called Melissae is made from semi-sheer organic cotton voile.  The bodice has asymetrical pleating, which is fitted in at the bust and then falls gracefully down the entire length of the dress.

I love that one shoulder has been accentuated with roses made from hemp satin, sheer silk chiffon and organic cotton voile.  And even the undergown is made from hemp/peace silk satin.

Recycled vintage wool blanket bunting

Charlie

A truly delightful find on Etsy – bunting made from recycled vintage wool blankets and embellished with embroidered flowers.  This bunting is available from Monkey Puzzle in various colours of embroidery and different designs.

These would be a beautiful addition to any wedding or party, or even just to brighten up your home!

Or perhaps you could be inspired and have a go yourself – I have found on a number of occasions old wool blankets at the carboot, so if you’re a crafty person you could have a go yourself.
