Patricia Vincent wedding dress and flower crown - romantic vintage wedding inspiration // Mademoiselle Fee // The Natural Wedding Company

Today’s romantic vintage wedding inspiration comes via a beautiful photoshoot from Mademoiselle Fee. Some of my favourite wedding photoshoots have been sent to us from Stefanie at Mademoiselle Fee (you can see them here and here) and they always have a beautiful back story.

The raspberry red wedding florals, a wedding dress inspired by Romanian fairytales, and a romantic dessert table are all set against the backdrop of a 14th Century watermill. So many lovely details and ideas to inspire you for your own wedding if you are wanting a romantic and vintage feel.

Austrian based stylist Stefanie told me about this romantic vintage wedding inspiration photoshoot…

Family picture on wedding day with beams of light // Enchanted Brides // The Natural Wedding Company

This week’s real wedding is a magical woodland wedding full of natural decorations, mismatched pots, handpicked wildflowers and little green woodland creatures.

Cheryl and Andrew, whose two children played important roles on the day, got married at Sconner Down in Polbathic – a beautiful woodland venue with stunning views of Cornwall and their hometown, Plymouth.

Their informal, family-centred day radiates happiness and joy.  Ultimately, they wanted a relaxed, fun day for everyone they love and they undoubtedly achieved this wish: they even had a bouncy castle (for the children, of course).

Over to Cheryl to tell us all about this fairytale wedding

Hanna and Guy's storybook inspired spring garden wedding with a marching band and humanist blessing beneath a tree // Images for Life // The Natural Wedding Company

Today’s wedding is just making me long for those lush spring days when the English countryside is covered in cow parsley and buttercups. Hanna and Guy were inspired by childhood storybook’s and fairytales, with fun details dotted throughout their wedding, which took place in a beautiful family garden.

We adore this kind of wedding, with its down-to-earth feel, involvement by family and friends, and those magical moments – in this case a marching band leading the bride and groom through a field of cow parsley (see below). This wedding was beautifully captured by our friend Joanna Ornowska of Images for Life, one of our TNWC Recommended Suppliers. Over to Hanna to tell you more about her whimsical storybook garden wedding…

A back garden wedding inspired by childhood stories

I liked the idea of having a wedding that was as tailored to our personalities and values as possible, and so the idea of using a venue that was licensed for civil ceremonies and had already hosted countless big days was immediately dismissed. Instead, we decided to have a humanist blessing in Guy’s mum’s glorious two-acre back garden, which is somewhat incongruously hidden away behind a suburban bungalow in rural Cambridgeshire.

We’re both passionate about traditional children’s stories and so we chose to follow a loose ‘storybook’ theme, transforming the garden into a magical fairytale land that we jokingly called ‘Ermine Island’.

Fairytale woodland wedding inspiration with a bridal cape, floral birdcage veil and tweed suit // Waldkind Fine Art Photography // Styling by Mademoiselle Fee // The Natural Wedding Company

Today’s inspirational shoot is like something out of a fairytale, a laid-back modern fairytale but a fairytale woodland wedding nonetheless. Think little red riding hood, with a touch of Hansel and Gretel and a whole dose of an intimate love story to rival any Snow White or Sleeping Beauty.

Set in a secluded forest, this stunning Austrian shoot provides an abundance of autumnal and winter wedding inspiration, with gorgeous shades of green, berry and cream, incredible fashion and a to-die-for candlelit first-dance.

Here’s the film from the shoot to give you a little taster of just how beautiful it is:

Stefanie who created the shoot told us: “Summer might be a classical time for a wedding but in autumn, when it’s cooler outside, a wedding can be equally beautiful. With furs, blankets, candles and fire bowls the wedding party can easily spend unforgettable hours outside. Natural materials, homemade cakes and other sweets turn the party in something unique and personal.”

Stefanie of Mademoiselle Fee explains the dreamy vision behind the shoot: “Our idea was to accompany a newly wed couple on a romantic walk through an autumnal forest. The two have just exchanged vows,  maybe in a chapel close by.

What we wanted to show was a couple, close to nature and grounded, spending this most beautiful day where their hearts are drawing them – to the forest with a little secluded house.”

To see a fine lady upon a white horse

Charlie / 12 December 2011

bride and groom white horse

I’ve just come back from a weekend away celebrating Christmas with my in-laws before they fly off to Australia, so I’m still getting back into things.  Whilst I get a bit more sorted for the week ahead I thought I would share this beautiful image – isn’t it stunning?  There’s something a bit Wuthering Heights about it, or a scene from a fairytale.

It reminds me a childhood nursey rhyme…Ride a cock horse to Banbury Cross to a see a fine lady upon a white horse, with rings on her fingers and bells on her toes, she shall have music wherever she goes.  And for all of your who love a romantic fairytale wedding, do take a look at all the pictures from this English Countryside Wedding.
