The Oxfam Wedding Auction coming this weekend!

You might well have already heard about the fantastic Oxfam Wedding Auction project via Annabel at Love My Dress, but I wanted to share details and show my support for this wonderful project.

Starting on Sunday 29th April and running until Wednesday 9th May 2012 Oxfam Weddings will be hosting an online auction of incredible wedding items totalling over £70,000. All the funds raised from the auction will go to support Oxfam’s charitable causes.

There is an absolutely fantastic line up of wedding items to bid on, and reading through the list I was delighted to spot a number of TNWC businesses involved. Those TNWC businesses who have donated items to the wedding auction are:

The Vintage Wedding Dress Company – a choice of any of their wedding dresses at a value of £1,500

A special offer from the Heartfelt Project on their gorgeous range of ethical wedding favours hand-sewn in South Africa

The Heartfelt Project sell a beautiful range of ethical wedding favours, each one hand-sewn by a group of ladies in South Africa. Each favour carries a message of hope, with your wedding favours contributing a donation to a local community charity that helps those suffering from HIV/AIDS and TB, as well as supporting the families of those ladies who made them.

The designs combine traditional handcraft skills with contemporary design – “creating a little heartfelt something that is truly unique.” To celebrate our 5th birthday, The Heartfelt Project would like to offer 5 lucky couples free postage on their wedding favours, which is a £20 discount. For a project that gives back so much to the community this is an incredibly generous offer.

Beautiful wedding jewellery that supports vulnerable children in Thailand

A recent addition to the directory is an inspirational company called Jewels for Freedom who are doing truly amazing work.

Set up in 2010 by Carol Shipley, Jewels for Freedom sell beautiful bridal jewellery, donating all the proceeds from sales to a charity called ‘Children on the Edge’.
