1930s inspired country wedding (part two)

If you missed yesterday’s part one of Allie and Tom’s handmade 1930’s inspired country wedding be sure to read it first – it’s full of beautiful details and photos of their ceremony and how they got Allie’s parents field ready for their wedding.  So without further ado, after their ceremony, Allie and Tom had some photos taken whilst dodging the rain showers – what a beautiful vintage car.

Then everyone headed back to Allie’s parents field where they had Pimms in the marquee, followed by an afternoon tea of cakes, scones and sandwiches, all made by her mum’s friends.

Afternoon tea was served on vintage crockery collected over the year by Allie and her mum.  I spent a lot of time the day before the wedding selecting all the crockery and it really did look as I imagined it.

Handmade 1930s country wedding

1930s inspired country wedding (part one)

It is another of those exciting days where I get to share a wedding from one of my readers with you all.  I’ve been in touch with the lovely Allie for a while now and I was even lucky enough to make her wedding guestbook!

It was lovely to hear that The Natural Wedding Company blog was a source of daily inspiration for Allie when she was planning her wedding, and she found a number of suppliers via the directory. Don’t forget to check back tomorrow for part two and a full list of suppliers.

1930s country wedding dress inspiration

Allie and Tom got married on a very rainy Saturday in September at her parent’s home in Somerset.

Allie told me that her parents was the only place for their wedding.  Getting married in the village I grew up in, surrounded by people who watched me grow up just felt really right.  We wanted a wedding where all our friends and family and village people could help out.  I think we could only have done that at my parent’s home.

Acorn cap floating beeswax candles for an autumn wedding

Charlie

acorn cap floating beeswax candles

Etsy is a treasure-trove of wonderful goodies, I can’t tell you how much I love it.  I spotted these tiny floating candles, made from beeswax filled acorn caps, and just thought they would be beautiful for an autumn wedding.

In bowls of water, perhaps like below with addition of colourful autumn leaves, they would look simply stunning on your reception tables.  What a genius idea they are – what do you think?  They’d go really well with this idea for place cards made from oak leaves.

Timeless autumn wedding in Lithuania

You might well have spied this stunning autumn wedding from Lithuania out on the web already, but when I saw it I just knew that it was the kind of wedding that you’d love to see – so I got in touch with photographer Svetlana Batura to ask if I might share it.

For me this beautiful Lithuanian wedding is one of those timeless weddings that just melts my heart – it has a few exquisite season-inspired details, a couple very much in love, and other than that it makes the most of the landscape and time of year in which it takes place.

Seasonal wedding wreaths with apples, ivy and berries

Charlie

November seems to have well and truly arrived today, with everywhere damp and chilly, and trees bare with their leaves around their roots.  Something jolly is in order I think, to bring a little cheer to this weekend – and what better than a gorgeous autumn inspired wreath with apples, berries and pine cones, and ivy woven throughout.

This pretty seasonal wreath above is made by JW Blooms, one of the lovely florists listed on the directory.  If you are planning an autumnal wedding and want to reflect the season in the way you decorate, why not incorporate some natural wreaths – they would look stunning hanging on the heavy old doors to a church, or perhaps the entrance to a rustic barn.  Smaller versions could be tied to the back of the bride and grooms chairs with a loop of ribbon, or even placed on tables with flickering candles in the middle.

And if you’re not getting married you can still get one of these beautiful wreaths (the apple wreath is the ‘Somerset’ for your front door – they come in three other designs including ‘Festive’, ‘Nordic’, and ‘Traditional’.

Edible woodland inspired wedding cake decorations

Charlie

It’s hard to believe these extraordinary creations are edible – yes, those leaves are edible.  These are handcrafted sugar decorations, from Andie’s Speciality Sweets, which I think would look beautiful on a simply white wedding cake and would be sure to wow your family and friends.

I have picked a selection of my favourite autumn inspired decorations to share with you…

Pomegranate place name holders

Charlie

pomegranateplacecard

I had wanted to make this month’s creative project with those cute miniature pumpkins that start to appear in the shops in the lead up to Halloween, but I was unable to find any.  Instead, I have used a pomegranate, which works equally well as a place name holder.

At the bottom of this post you’ll find some other lovely place name holders using fruit.  If you’re looking for a low cost creative option for your wedding, this creative project couldn’t be any simpler.
