Oh what a beauty of a wedding this is, with this effortlessly stylish barefoot bride in her boho two-piece wedding “dress” and the outdoor ceremony beneath an archway of weathered branches. I have literally spent hours attempting to whittle down the photos I received for Zoe and Alex’s stunning wedding, but I’m sure you’ll forgive me for not doing great at cutting them down, because they are pretty awesome.
A special thanks goes out to Alice at Forage and Blossom, one of our fab recommended suppliers and the florist for Zoe and Alex. All those gorgeous white, pale cream and green bouquets, flower crowns and arrangements – those are her work. Alice is also the one who helped get this beautiful wedding to grace our pages.
Put on some music and find somewhere to get comfy, because Zoe and Alex’s wedding deserves all the time you can give it to soak up a truly special celebration. If you are worrying about all the details you need to “have” to create the wedding of your dreams, I hope that Zoe and Alex will show you that you only need a few carefully selected elements and lots of laughter. Over to Zoe…
A boho picnic wedding shoot on a lake inspired by English picnics and wildflowers with a barefoot bride in a crochet wedding dress
I’m quite sure if you’re a regular reader you will remember this magical fairytale woodland wedding shoot from Austria sent to us by the lovely Stephanie of Mademoiselle Fee – well we have another beautiful shoot to share from her today.
A boho picnic wedding with a barefoot bride
From a barefoot bride in a 1970s-esque crochet wedding dress to the understated (and therefore perfect in my books) tea party, what I love most about the shoots created by Mademoiselle Fee and her team is the genuine, heartfelt love and emotions that emanate from the pictures. Yes, the detailings are beautiful, but it’s the tenderness that is captured, woven in with the pretty details, that make her shoots truly special.
A homage to English picnics and wildflowers
The inspiration from the shoot came from both the lake itself and a flower crown, from one of our own dear friends, Amy Swann. Stephanie told me:
“I love this place at the lake, so do all our friends, and when I saw Amy Swann’s flower crown, I immediately had this picture in my mind of a relaxed couple lying on the deck. Some years ago, when I was engaged, I found The Natural Wedding Company and have been following your inspiring blog posts ever since. This shoot is a homage to English picnics and wildflowers, to bunting and homemade cakes. I love this outdoor way of enjoying life and nature.”
Amy and Alex’s colourful, handmade outdoor wedding with a floral wedding dress and relaxed Buddhist tea ceremony
Today’s gorgeous wedding has us beaming from ear to ear, it is a incredible explosion of colour, brimming with love, laughter and personal handmade touches. This wedding truly optimises the idea of doing ‘your wedding, your way’ throwing the ‘wedding rule book’ out the window and we just love it.
You will find no big white dress or matching suits here, think floral prints, an outdoor buddhist tea ceremony, a ‘bring a dish’ buffet, and an evening full of family entertainment and you will begin to get the picture.
Alex and Amy, July 2015
Alex and Amy, who met at university, were married on a gloriously sunny day back in July last year. They wanted to create ‘a relaxed day of fun for everyone’ and they most certainly did that.
Our day was about celebrating us as a couple, our two children, our family and friends. We are very fortunate to live in a beautiful valley which was the perfect venue for our wedding.
At the point in my life when I got married (nearly 2 years ago now!) I always knew I’d wear a traditional wedding dress in the sense of it being white/cream/ivory. I do however love coming across alternatives to the pale colours of the traditional wedding dress, and part of me wishes I was the kind of bride who wanted to wear something unique and different.
When I came across this stunning bride in her dark blue Liberty print and lace wedding dress I was instantly in love – perhaps it’s that romantic part of me that loves to dream of ‘days gone by’, but it just completely bowled me over with its Jane Austen beauty.
This beautiful wedding on an apple farm in California is how I dream of my life being – one day…one day. When I’m looking for weddings to share snippets of with you here, the words ‘farm‘ usually draw me in. Some can be a little twee and cutesie, but others, like this one, and just truly heavenly I think.
Let it be said, an apple orchard, late evening sun and a Jersey cow are to have me audibly sighing at my desk. Oh, and did I mention goats in a similarly romantic setting have the same effect?
I am quite prepared to getting married again when I come across weddings like this. I’m also about to upsticks and more to the rural idyllic lifestyle that fills my dreams.
Enough about my wistful daydreams. This wedding is packed with beautiful details, I especially liked their wedding invitations packaged up in glassine envelopes (what a fab idea!) and with a brown craft address label. Floral postage stamps are a pretty good addition too – imagine one of these dropping through your door!
I have missed sharing some of my favourite finds from other wedding blogs, but am determined to get more of them back here on the blog for you. I had to share some pictures from this beautiful New Zealand beach wedding where the bride wore a stunning brown dress.
It’s so lovely and refreshing to see gorgeous alternatives to a white wedding dress, and I would have never imagined how lovely a brown wedding dress could look until I spotted this wedding. I also love how the bridesmaids wore mismatched white dresses.
The flowers from this wedding are also exquisite – not having any knowledge of native New Zealand flowers and foliage I can’t tell whether they are native nor seasonal, but they look like they should be.
What could be more beautiful than a wedding dress made from jasmine flowers for a bride who grew up and got married in her home of Bali? I have been totally sucked into the beauty of this wedding, of how it so effortlessly sits within its setting.
