Eco farmhouse wedding photoshoot

Set at a gorgeous German farmhouse, today’s eco-inspired wedding shoot showcases beautiful simple details including a vintage tea party with a naked wedding cake, loose bouquets of lavender and herbs, watercolour invites, and a truly romantic real life love story.

Curated by the clever people at Lovely White Weddings  who wanted to provide a fully eco-friendly inspirational shoot to promote to brides-to-be the talented ethical wedding businesses in Germany, where they have yet to gain much mainstream attention. Lisa, Lena and Dani from Lovely White Weddings explain,

“In Germany we still pretty much live in a ‘green wedding desert’, there really is almost no good blog, magazine or specifically green wedding vendor to be found if you do not exactly know what to look for. Since we ourselves try to live as organic and sustainable as possible, we agreed that it was high time to fill that gap and to push the green wedding trend in Germany by throwing together one of the first truly eco German styled shoots.”

Eco-inspired wedding details

With the desire to keep everything green and eco-friendly as possible, Lisa, Lena and Dani share with us the inspiration behind all the details: 

“The hair and make-up artist Lena Röhl only worked with certified natural cosmetics by Provida, the wedding cake was vegan and covered in tasty regional lavender honey. The venue is an eco-center, all the clothes are ecologically produced and made of organic fabrics, especially the wedding dress which was handmade in Germany. The rings were made in town from German stream gold, the bowties are made of recycled wood and so on and so forth. We really spun the ‘green thread; all the way and even have some big green brand names amongst our sponsors.”

Focusing on love

“With a desire to create a truly honest shoot, the team at Lovely White Weddings decided to have a real life couple rather than models: “We wanted everything in this shoot to be true, so instead of models we had a real couple who are madly in love with each other. We didn’t want to create just another Pinterest-perfect shoot that would add to the already unrealistic image of the ‘perfect’ wedding.”

“Styling wise we chose to go with handmade details and a subtle country tea party vibe. The vintage china was an old attic find and the grey linen and wooden boxes had also been lying around. All the floral decor was done on the day of the shoot, created out of fresh lavender and all kinds of herbs, almost all of which were taken home after the shoot and are now happily situated in sunny gardens. All of the things we did for this shoot were not only very easy to DIY, but great for couples who may be on a budget.”

A real life love story

Perhaps the most lovely part of this shoot came at the end of the day:

“After I asked our lovely couple to help us out, the groom secretly asked me, if it was ok for him to actually propose to his girlfriend at the end of it all. Naturally we were thrilled, hopeless romantics that we are, and agreed. Keeping it secret from the ‘bride’ however, turned out to be quite the challenge. It got especially demanding when she texted me one day, asking me if we couldn’t make an actual wedding out of the photoshoot! Fortunately we were able to convince her, that for various reasons, this was not such a good idea. When the ‘groom’ finally got down on one knee to the live version of their song she was really overwhelmed and hadn’t anticipated a thing. We even managed to catch a picture of the moment, that we are allowed to share with you.”
