A London country house spring wedding shoot with a wild bouquet and colour palette of pink and gold

Country house spring wedding
Wimbledon has a special place in my heart as it was the place where I was born and spent the first few years of my life, so when this beautiful country house spring shoot landed in my inbox I was especially excited to share it with you.
This recently renovated south London country house wedding venue is set within the stunning Morden Hall Park, which is run by the National Trust. The park contains a variety of natural landscapes, including parkland, a river, meadow and marshland – an idyllic backdrop for this spring wedding shoot.
Photographer Eva Tarnok told me that they wanted to reflect the elegance of this historic venue, but also to showcase the natural beauty surrounding it – I think they did a great job.
Morden Hall wedding venue
Set in a secluded corner of the National Trust run Morden Hall Park, Morden Hall and its garden makes for a very special place for weddings. Eva told me: “It is a beautiful natural setting with lots of geese and other birds in the River Wandle. The inside of the building has been recently renovated and redecorated to a very high standard, however, for me what makes the place ideal its natural setting.”
The flowers
With their main inspiration for the shoot coming from the beautiful gardens at Morden Hall, Liz Indigo Jones from Blue Sky Flowers in London tried to weave in elements of the elegant gardens into her floral designs.
The bouquet she created is wild with a feeling of abundance, very lush and almost ‘dripping’ in spring garden flowers – a real mixture of the blousy peonies against the wilder elements like the blossom and foxgloves, and then the cottage garden beauties such as bleeding hearts.
The table arrangements included fragrant stocks and trailing clematis, and the ceremonial arch created for the garden photos was filled with blush coloured roses to eco the rose gardens at Morden Hall. I also really love the grooms buttonhole with its lush green leaves and green hellebore.
The wedding dress
I asked Eva about the two beautiful wedding dresses they chose for the shoot, she told me:
“We picked two very different dresses for the shoot to create different looks. One of the dresses was the very detailed and romantic Neta by Inbal Raviv. It Is made from hand embellished cotton lace in rose gold with a silk chiffon skirt with lace inserts. The dress looked a bit different, it had a romantic vintage feel to it but still looked elegant.
The other dress we picked was Zara by Luella’s Bridal. It is made from French silk chiffon and is made in London. This dress is very simple with gold foiling at the bottom, which is done by hand. As we wanted to use flower crowns for some of the set ups, we needed a more simple dress to work with it. Zara was a perfect dress, elegant, simple and beautiful and it looked stunning in the wind or when the model was moving.”
Bridal accessories
‘Bride’ Sophie from The London Ballet Company wore beautifully detailed shoes from Emmy London in a blush pink and gold to tie in with the other elements. They chose elegant hair accessories with flora and fauna motifs from Victoria Millesime, that reflected the grandeur of the country house and gardens.
Silk ribbon table settings
At a recent wedding fair I met Pompomblossom who creates hand-dyed silk ribbons and other exquisite wedding details, so it is wonderful to see her work incorporated into this shoot. Photographer Eva Tarnok told me that they wanted to add a sense of movement and fluidity and so the luxurious table linens from Table to Dine For and the silk ribbons from Pompomblossom in the softest shades of pink and pastel blue were just perfect.
The wedding cake
More of those pretty soft pinks and golds found elsewhere in the shoot were woven in to the elegant wedding cake created by Maisie Fantaisie. It is fitting for a country house wedding but without being too formal, I love the simple touch of the single rose on top and those delicate silk ribbons from Pompomblossom tied loosely around the middle layer.
A big thank you to Eva and her team for letting us be the first to share this beautiful shoot – I’m sure that it will provide lots of ideas and inspiration for many of you planning a late spring early summer wedding.
