Did you see the beautiful edible flower inspiration we brought to you last week? The inspiration we have for you today is just as lovely, but takes on a more unusual twist. Ever thought about serving flowers with a fish dish? No me neither!
These beautiful images are a collaboration between two of our lovely recommended suppliers from our directory; gorgeous edible flowers and herbs by Greens of Devon and all perfectly styled and captured by the talented Betti Confetti Photography.
Inspired by Italian and Mediterranean al fresco dining, these mouthwatering images prove that pretty flowers aren”t just for topping the wedding cake. They are so effective at adding the finish touch to every dish throughout your big day!

Savoury edible flower inspiration – Starters
We did say we were going to show you how edible flowers work for every dish throughout your big day and starters are no exception. A simple pasta dish with a fresh pesto sauce is not the most obvious but a few blooms here and there really brings it to life, making it that bit more special.

How perfect would this be as a first course, or as an evening snack later to keep the prosecco cocktails flowing. Serve in individual little bowls, to make the flowers pop and make it perfect to eat whilst standing.

Savoury edible flower inspiration – Mains
Who would have thought prettying up a fish dish could work so well. Mackerel, a Mediterranean staple, looks delicious here served with roasted baby new potatoes, garnished with chervil or shungiku and sweet cicely.

A posh version of fish and chips, how impressive would it look serving this up to your guests!

Savoury edible flower inspiration – Cheeseboard
Guests love a cheeseboard, a cheeseboard with flowers they will love even more! With edible flowers a cheeseboard can become more than just something to eat, make it a focal point and dress it up with simple scrabble letters to complement the garnish.

Add “lingue” crackers nicknamed “mother-in-laws tongues” to make your cheeseboard a real talking point.

Colour coordinate your accompaniments to set off your flowers, such as bright pink beetroot chutney. Mild mozzarella balls are a great choice to allow your guests to savour the flowers taste. The lilac chive flowers are perfect with cheese.

Edible Flowers
The selection of edible flowers included chive flowers, snapdragons, violas, cornflowers, bellis daisy, calendula, and borage flowers.

I don”t know about you but after both these posts I wish to sprinkle every meal with a few flowers here and there now, and I”m kicking myself that I didn”t include them in my wedding day! Beautiful, tasty and that extra bit special why wouldn”t you!!
