The Wedding Project alternative eco-friendly handmade wedding fair

If you live in London or the surrounding counties and you’re free this Sunday 11th March then you must head to The Wedding Project – an interactive wedding fair for the eco-friendly and handmade bride.  The Wedding Project is a collaboration of Laura McCluskey Photography (Laura’s one of the photographer featured in the directory) and Retrospective Bride.

Held at the stunning Sutton House in Hackney, east London, the wedding fair offers a “hands-on” opportunity for couples who want a beautifully bespoke wedding to meet local suppliers and crafters for a truly personal wedding.

Downstairs you will find the heart of the crafting experience, where I’m told the barn will be buzzing with a “frenzy of creativity” – there will be a variety of DIY workshops where you’ll be able to learn and practise your chosen skill and take away your creation.  A perfect way to get you into the creative spirit for making other elements of your wedding.

The beautifully oak panelled rooms at Sutton House will be heaving with beautiful wedding dresses, tiaras and jewellery, as well as fabulous shoes for you to sample.  Laura tells me there will also be a bridal beauty parlour, “where the air will be filled with sweet powders and perfumes by talented make-up artists and hair stylists alike.”

The tearooms at Sutton House will be open for tea and cake so you can take a well-deserved break from all the fun of the wedding fair.  The DIY workshops will run for 50 minutes from midday until 4pm, and you will find lots of exclusive offers available.
