Devon woodland cherish the dress photoshoot

Back in September, Sarah from The Woodland Shelter in Devon decided to host a ‘cherish the dress’ (or ‘trash the dress’ depending on your inclination!) photoshoot in the woodlands around their ceremony venue.  She invited a couple of real brides to come and wear their wedding dresses again and have some photographs taken by a local photographer.

The Woodland Shelter wedding venue Devon

The Woodland Shelter is a registered wedding venue situated deep within woods in North Devon and is perfect for couples wanting a woodland ceremony, something a little different, an intimate gathering, and one that is a little greener.  The ‘cherish the dress’ photoshoot gives you a glimpse at the beautiful woodland available for wedding photos – including a gentle river.

If you would like more information about having your wedding ceremony at The Woodland Shelter take a look at their profile page, or if you’re interested in going their for a ‘cherish the dress’ or ‘trash the dress’ (how could you!) photoshoot do drop Sarah an email at sarah@butterfliesweddingsandevents.co.uk.

Has anyone done a ‘cherish the dress’ or ‘trash the dress’ photoshoot?  Would love to hear from you – where you went, what did you do to your dress (did you wreck it??), was it fun, and would you recommend it to other newly married girls?

Nice pictures! I’m wondering about taking my dress on our honeymoon and getting some photos in the pretty places we go to, including a gothic tower in snowdonia… has anyone else done this sort of thing? Or maybe the honeymoon should be a time to completely forget about wedding-related things!

Hi Sarah, thanks for your message – I shall ask this on my Facebook page as well and see if anyone else has done something similar. I think I’m completely torn on whether I would recommend doing it – I think that you don’t realise how much you need the restful time on your honeymoon, but like you said its also a fun opportunity to take some fun pictures in your wedding dress and wear it a bit more. However, we went on a very quiet private honeymoon in the Lake District, I took my wedding dress and I must admit to wearing it one evening and getting my husband to take a few pictures of me in it – it was such a beautiful location and quite romantic to wear out wedding clothes again 🙂

There’s also a couple who are travelling round the world getting married everywhere they go and she had some underwater pics taken in her dress (here’s the link): http://www.boho-weddings.com/2012/01/25/2-people-11-weddings-and-1-out-of-this-world-underwater-trash-the-dress-shoot/

Would love to hear what you decide in the end! xXx
