I’m exhausted after a fab day out in Birmingham at the Designer Vintage Bridal Show.  My friend Kerry and I enjoyed looking at all the beautiful wedding dresses (both vintage, and vintage and inspired), gorgeous displays of cake pops, cupcakes in jars, and non-edible soap cupcakes, as well as chatting with some of the wonderful people behind these businesses.

If you’re planning your wedding and interested in vintage inspired elements, and are free tomorrow, then you should definitely get yourself over to Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham and enjoy a great day out.  We came away with lovely goodie bags filled with nice treats both edible and lovely smelling.

It was also lovely to have a brief chat with Annabel from Love My Dress, who is just the nicest person, so friendly and cheerful, with a stunning stall and in spite of feeling under the weather.  Another great reason to get yourself over to the show tomorrow – a chance to meet the creative brains behind Love My Dress.  We also snaffled ourselves a sweet set of Love My Dress magnets.

Other highlights were the rustic items available to hire from Wren’s Tea Party

This stunning yellow themed display from The Boutique Baking Company complete with tiered sponge cake filled with lemon curd – a lovely variation on the tiered Victoria sponge – and the above mentioned cupcakes in jars…

Raw organic chocolate inside these beautiful yurts from Wedding Yurts, decked out in sumptuous purples, fairy lights, paper pom poms and a honeymoon style bedroom…

Audrey the pretty caravan, available to hire for weddings from Vintage Glamour Days

And can you believe it – these incredible soap cupcakes made by Soapy Jones perfect for wedding favours – the smell from this stall was just amazing…

We also watched two fashion shows featuring dresses from the 1920s, 1930s, 1940s and 1950s.  After driving back to Manchester we finished our girlie day out with a milkshake and cream tea at And The Dish Ran Away With The Spoon.
