Deep breath… I have been really nervous about sharing our wedding details, but I’m finally ready to take the plunge.  Up first are our handmade ‘save the dates’.  They are quite tiny, printed onto 100% recycled brown card and don’t need an envelope.

These shots were taken by our wonderful photographer Mark Tattersall and show the ‘save the dates’ open and sealed up.

I love making things, as do my mom and sister, and Mr Rigg and my dad are hands-on-DIY-ers, so it was clear from the beginning of our wedding that the whole thing would be quite hands-on.  This coupled with being quite particular (read fussy) about how I like things to look, the first handmade item on the list was our ‘save the date’ cards.

18 months ago when we got engaged, ‘save the dates’ still seemed quite a new idea in the UK, but I thought it was a lovely idea – both practical to make sure your nearest and dearest have plenty of time to keep the date free and also I think it starts to build up the excitement.

Later this week will follow a ‘do it yourself’ blog post on how we made them and where we got all the bits and pieces from.  Would love to know what you think!

Completely in love with this idea. My fiance and I were recently engaged and as a young couple, we are hoping to have our wedding be as cost effective as possible. Is there a tutorial on how to prepare these “save the dates”? I am curious to how you completed the printing on each card. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
