Woodland inspired luggage tag ‘save the dates’

Charlie

rustic woodland luggage tag save the dates

Today it’s more handmade loveliness from a lovely bride-to-be and another fab idea for creating ‘save the dates’.  These ‘save the date’ luggage tags were made by Tara and her husband-to-be Ben who run a vintage restoration business called Elegantly Wasted Vintage.  They are getting married in December and are going for a woodland Edwardian feel for their wedding.

Tara was happy to share the details of how she made them and where she got her supplies…  The ‘save the dates’ were easy to make – although all the furious typing on the old typewriter gave me very sore wrists – I don’t know how my mum, who was a secretary in the 1970s, did it!  The whole lot cost about £15 to make 50.  I used letter stamp blocks from Dunelm Mill and cost £2, the tags were £2 for 50 from Ebay, the twine was £3 from Nutscene, and I ordered the stag stamp online from stampsdirect for £7.  I trimmed the paper with the details using scalloped edged scissors.

The new 2012 wedding stationery collection from Artcadia featuring folk and florals

Artcadia letterpress wedding stationery

I’m really excited to share some of my favourite new designs from one of the stationery businesses listed in the directory.  These beautiful new designs have been created by Vici-Jane and husband Richard of Artcadia.  They are a mixture of letterpress and digital wedding stationery, and include a new range of ‘uncomplicated’ letterpress designs where you can select your own fonts, motifs, inks and envelope colours.

These two below (and the one above) are called Roma and incorporate beautiful folk styles.

Real wood wedding invitations engraved with a bird on a branch

Charlie

real wood bird wedding invitations

How incredible are these invitations – made of very thin real wood they are then engraved with a personalised message.  This one in particular I liked with the tiny bird on a branch, and thought they would make lovely wedding invitations if you had the budget and wanted something really unusual and special.

They are made (I believe) in the Netherlands but can be shipped anywhere in the world, and new trees are planted when one is cut.  Take a look at their Etsy shop for more designs and details.

Medal buttonholes made from wood and vintage fabric

Charlie

woodland medal buttonholes

I thought these were so inspired when I spotted them on Etsy.  Made in the UK from a slice of a tree branch and hand-stitched vintage fabrics I think they would make great buttonholes.  They are quirky and a bit different, and I love the handcrafted and natural look of them.  They are made as brooches so come with a metal pin on the back, easy to fasten to suits.

Edible woodland inspired wedding cake decorations

Charlie

It’s hard to believe these extraordinary creations are edible – yes, those leaves are edible.  These are handcrafted sugar decorations, from Andie’s Speciality Sweets, which I think would look beautiful on a simply white wedding cake and would be sure to wow your family and friends.

I have picked a selection of my favourite autumn inspired decorations to share with you…

A magical woodland wedding venue in the Cornish countryside

Charlie

It’s hard to know where to begin telling you about our visit to Cornish Tipi Weddings because you really have to visit to get a feel for what this place is really like.  You need to go and soak it up, all the beautiful photographs will only go so far in showing you what a special place it is.

I’ve supplemented my own photos with those from Cornish Tipi Weddings and Green Photographic as I think that seeing weddings happening on site gives you the best feel for what it would be like, short of visiting yourself.

Following our directions to Cornish Tipi Weddings (also Cornish Tipi Holidays) we pulled off the lane and headed down a bumpy track.  We were greeted by Oggy, the warm and welcoming warden who takes care of the site, before following him down into the woodland towards our tipi.  All the paths were just like this…

Green Photographic

The site is set amongst 16 acres of secret woodland, each tipi nestled amongst its own woodland glade – ours was high up above the lake and aptly named ‘Overlake’.  Cornish Tipi Holidays is just like camping, but you don’t have to take a tent or cooking equipment, these are all provided.  This was our tipi…

Inspirational natural winter wedding decorations

Charlie

For all those brides and grooms planning an autumn or winter wedding who are in need of some inspiration when it comes to decorating – look no further.

From red berries to dried ferns, maple leaves scattered on tables, abundant fir cones and gourds, ivy coiled around willow hearts, and beeswax candles – this wedding shows how beautiful natural decorations can be when you look to what nature can provide.

With the help of a few vintage pots and metal jugs and a little bit of imagination an autumn or winter wedding can be just as beautiful as any summer wedding with its pick of flowers.

My winter woodland hen party

Charlie

I can’t believe that my hen party was nearly two weeks ago now – where does the time go!  It was organised by two friends of mine, with a lovely lunch and afternoon tea, but the main part was a gorgeous woodland walk before having hot chocolate with marshmallows in a bell tent deep in the wood.  It was perfect.

A big thank you to May and Jane for organising it, and to my friends Maria, Sophia, Kate and my mom and sister Izzy for coming to share the afternoon with me.  It was lovely knowing nothing about what was planned, and a really special way to celebrate getting married.
