Artcadia – individual and ethical wedding stationery

Charlie

Artcadia is a great new company started by Vici-Jane Kohring after she struggled to find stationery for her own wedding that reflected both the personalities of her and her husband-to-be and the ‘less traditional’ style of their day.

Using her experience in design she has started creating beautiful and unique wedding stationery.  Artcadia’s collections currently include designs such as Carnival, Vintage and Organic, with a range of stationery from invitations to menus.

Pretty wedding shoes from recycled vintage fabric

Charlie

I am currently on the hunt for pretty shoes to wear on my wedding day.  With a vintage style wedding dress that is quite delicate, I need shoes that complement it nicely, and ideally meet my ethical and/or eco wishes.

So when I was reading my e-newsletter from Daisy Green and saw an article on shoes made with recycled vintage textiles and leathers.  Intrigued I followed the link to the TRAIDremade website and discovered the below two shoes that I’ve fallen in love with…

Wouldn’t they make gorgeous wedding shoes?

A visit to The Real Cut Flower Garden

Charlie

Over the weekend Mr Rigg and I went to Hereford for a friend’s wedding.  So last week before we headed off, I got in contact with Charlie Ryrie – the fantastic woman behind The Real Cut Flower Garden to see if we could pay her a visit.  We were both lucky enough to be welcomed into her beautiful home and given a tour of her flower field.

It is always so nice to meet the people and businesses who I list on my directory, and to see first hand the wonderful work they are doing.  Charlie’s flower field was full of hot summery shades of red, yellow, orange, and purple – stunning sunflowers, purple verbena bobbing in the wind, and the last of the sweetpeas.

She has mentioned our visit on her blog and said some truly lovely things about my business, which is so encouraging and uplifting to hear when you’re always sat at home alone on your laptop beavering away.  We even discussed what flowers she grows in May for our own wedding – watch this space!

Hatswell Meadows – luxury country house wedding venue for small intimate weddings

Charlie

Hatswell Meadows is a luxury country house in Devon that is perfect for a small and intimate wedding.  The house offers couples an alternative to the traditional wedding venue, providing a private country house amongst its own 2 acre landscaped garden and terraces.  Ideal for those looking to get away from it all!

It is ideal for weddings of us to 40 guests, and can be hired for the weekend, a short break, or just the day.  Once you’ve hired the country house out you can do your own thing, which is fantastic for couples planning a DIY wedding.  This also allows you to be a green and eco-friendly as you desire.

As a licensed venue for weddings and civil partnerships, you can get married on site in the Lounge or Galleried Dining Hall.  Clive and Wendy, the owners of Hatswell Meadows can also provide a Devon cream tea (what a treat!), a West country wedding feast, or point you in the direction of Mr Hagget who can prepare you a hog roast!

It seems to me that having your wedding at Hatswell Meadows allows you to have a greater control of your budget whilst still enjoying the pleasures of a beautiful setting.  It also looks like it has some amazing locations for photographs!

This wonderful wedding venue is also a treat in all seasons – “cosy warm in the winter months”, golden in Autumn, the spring garden is a “riot of colours” and in summer you can enjoy the rose garden in full bloom.

If you’d like to have a chat about hiring Hatswell Meadows for your wedding, please contact Clive or Wendy on 01803 394 259 or email them at contact@itsagreatcottage.co.ukDon’t forget to tell them you found them at The Natural Wedding Company!

More information and photos can be found at their website: www.itsagreatcottage.co.uk.

Recycled flowers from An Evergreen Wedding

Charlie

Tina from An Evergreen Wedding is one of the newest additions to The Natural Wedding Company directory.  She makes uniquely beautiful flowers from recycled materials –  a truly original and eco-friendly alternative to the traditional wedding bouquet!

She has been working with recycled materials for the past 10 years and has been trying to push the boundaries of how beautiful waste can become if it’s thoughtfully reused.

Tina’s recycled flower bouquets have the added delight that they can be kept forever as a stunning reminder of your special day.  The bride, bridesmaids, mother-in-law, or guests (or all of them!) can enjoy and remember the occasion forever with these pretty flower creations, and they have a down-to-earth twist for all those green brides out there!

Tina told me, “I love the idea of a bouquet that demands nothing more from the planet.”  And we agree –  what a lovely way to share with your family and friends your eco-friendly values.

You can follow Tina at her blog: http://evergreenarts.wordpress.com or email her at tinaplus3@hotmail.co.uk for more information and prices.  She also offers bespoke creative hen nights/days!

Pretty things from Papermash

Charlie

I have just returned home from work to a beautiful little parcel of goodies from Papermash.  Papermash sell a small selection of pretty tags, notebooks, tape and string among other things.

Image: Papermash

It’s my friend’s birthday tomorrow and I knew I wanted to buy her some of the pretty ‘Owl tape‘ that Papermash have, and I have been after an excuse to treat myself to a reel of red and white butchers string.  So I ordered one of each.

Totally in love with Nkuku

Charlie

“Stylish, ecofriendly and fair trade gifts…” is what Nkuku specialise in.  I knew of Nkuku before as we’d bought one of their beautiful photo albums as a wedding gift, but I have only discovered their website and didn’t realise they had so many other gorgeous products!

Here’s a selection of my favourites that I think would be great for a wedding…

Bandhura Linen Scarf

I think it would make for a beautiful, delicate wedding shawl.  Think breezy beach wedding or cool spring country wedding.

Fire Fly Tear Drop Tea Light Holder

Hung from trees these sweet tear drop tea light holders would provide gorgeous twinkly light as the sun set and darkness crept in.  And made from 100% recycled glass.
