Today’s elegant rustic ballerina wedding shoot, set in an urban oasis in the heart of London, is a beautiful showcase of eco-friendly and ethical wedding suppliers.
Although people are growing more and more discerning regarding the use of ethical and eco-friendly products, it is still not common place in the mainstream and this also rings true for the wedding industry. You only have to look at our directory of recommended suppliers however, to know that there is an abundance of incredible independent businesses producing beautiful products for your big day with ethics at their heart. It is lovely to see these sorts of companies gain more recognition, and today’s shoot brought to us by stylist Charlotte Munro and photographer Paola De Paola does exactly that, showcasing some brilliant businesses including many TNWC recommended suppliers.
Eco-friendly wedding inspiration
Stylist Charlotte explains a little bit more about the inspiration behind the shoot…
‘The main focus of this shoot was on ethical and eco-friendly weddings, something that more and more couples are considering for their wedding day, but hasn’t yet been well publicised on wedding blogs and in magazines. Myself and professional photographer Paola De Paola wanted to change that with a beautiful, editorial styled shoot that focuses on ethical wedding companies.
We wanted to focus on suppliers who could bring their own ethical and eco-friendly ethos to the shoot and create something organic and beautiful that any couple could take away with them to incorporate into their own wedding day. I decided to introduce the ballerina aspect as I loved the concept of something flowing and beautiful, and to help convey our message – that it’s not always easy or straightforward to plan an ethical wedding, but the end result is beautiful, soulful, and can still follow fashion trends.’
All in the details
‘We were incredibly lucky in finding the most fabulous venue, the London Wetland Centre. With lots of beautiful scenery, an eco-friendly set-up and also a nature reserve, it couldn’t have been more perfect!’
To create the laidback modern, rustic tablescapes vintage chairs, reclaimed wood trestle tables and vintage earthenware and glass bottles from Anthology Vintage Hire were filled with simple blooms, greenery and succulents by The Flower Bird.
Handmade Chocolates from Little flying pig presents which are made using the best locally sourced ingredients were topped with bee-shaped seeded paper from Wild Flower Favours to double up as favours and place names, to adorn the natural palm leaf plates and bowls from Little Cherry.
Be showered in petals
A gorgeous confetti table was created using dried petal confetti from TNWC recommended supplier The Real Flower Petal Confetti Company who create their natural, biodegradable confetti from flowers grown on their farm, hand picked then dried in the sunshine.
I think this would be such a lovely idea for the entrance of your ceremony venue so guests could collect it on their way out in preparation for your exit as a newly wedded couple.
Ballet beautiful dresses
The beautiful dresses handmade dresses were created by wonderful TNWC recommended supplier Minna. Each of Minna‘s piece are inspired by her love of vintage and are hand embellished and made from sustainable, organic, recycled and locally produced textiles.
To compliment the dresses delicate filigree gold jewellery by another TNWC recommended supplier Arabel Lebrusan was chosen. Arabel Lebrusan’s ethical jewellery pieces are created through sustainable practices using the finest materials sourced sustainably and ethically.
Ethical Beauty Products
To finish the brides look relaxed hair and soft make up was created by Laura Anne using products from Green People. Green People offer over 100 certified organic products in high performance award-winning ranges. The products not only look beautiful but are packed with over 90% active natural and organic ingredients, you will find no synthetic chemicals, fragrants or colourants here!
