I have literally poured over this shoot for hours in a bid to narrow down the beautiful images – there are just too many that I wanted to share. This romantic rainy Cornish wedding shoot features a real couple, a vintage bike, spring florals, and a stunningly decorated ceremony arch.
More and more I’m seeing inspiration shoots that use real couples, and I think it is so refreshing. Just like the fairytale woodland shoot we recently featured, that also featured a real-life couple, the images today just ooze with love and genuine warmth and fun. That’s what I want to see from an inspirational wedding shoot. I want to be inspired by that authenticity against a backdrop of gorgeous and interesting props and styling. I have a feeling that’s what you would like to see as well.
Having spent many of many childhood holidays in Devon and Cornwall, this shoot captures everything I associate with this magical area on a wet rainy day – the damp vibrant moss, the moody greys, and splashes of colour, a palette taken straight from the towering hedgerows of these counties.
So it’s with a huge thank you to the lovely Gemma from Box and Cox Vintage Hire down in Cornwall that I get to share all this loveliness with you. She styled the shoot and showcased some of her collection of vintage hire items, including their new wooden arch which was so spectacularly dressed. The location was The Cornish Cutting Garden and they also created the stunning florals. Over to Gemma to tell you more…
Capturing A Story
The wedding ceremony marks the start of an adventure through life together. Intimate moments, laughter, and joy are at the very heart of a ceremony. We wanted to capture a story that was about the deep, true love that two people have for one another on their wedding day. The styling focus was to enhance our couples love story in a paired-back, naturalistic way that harnessed the wild and natural beauty of Cornwall.
Our models were couple, Chloe and Sam, who are set to tie the knot in a matter of weeks. A real couple meant we could capture genuine moments of love and affection. It was important to us that we embrace seasonality, and the tempestuous nature of the Cornish weather. Rustic and vintage undertones were another important element.
A rainy Cornish wedding shoot
Our phenomenally talented photographer, Joanne Clement from Enchanted Brides, has a way of capturing both story and beauty in its raw state. Jo embraced a deluge of Cornish wind and rain to provide us with wonderfully atmospheric, love and laughter filled images!
A Wild Setting
The Cornish Cutting Garden gave us a wonderful setting for our shoot. With both wild and nurtured spaces, horticulturalist and florist, Clare Webb, tends and grows all the foliage and flowers used in their wedding displays and arrangements.
A Floral Arch Centrepiece
The large wooden archway was given an organic and romantic feel, and created the centrepiece for the shoot. Adorned by Clare from The Cornish Cutting Garden with beautiful foliage, herbs, moss, and in-season florals, the arch had glorious colour and texture. Aged tin cans filled with bright spring blooms, willow balls, potted plants and an abundance of chalkboards gave the ceremony a budget friendly, stripped back look.
1920s Inspired Bridal Bouquet
Our bride wore a flower crown with loose, unstructured hair, adding to the natural look. Her oversized bouquet, with its jewel tones and eye catching white hydrangea at the centre, had a decadent 1920s feel that worked perfectly with the vintage lace dress.
Stolen Kisses
The beautiful stationery, embellished with sparkling glitter gold detail added a sense of luxury to the occasion. Honey, the superstar four legged ring barer, giant balloon and 1930s bicycle provided us with the opportunity to capture some playful moments and stolen kisses between our bride and groom. The traditional lemonade stand, festooned with pastel bunting, complimented the spring colours of the flowers and added to the sense of celebration.
I hope you all loved it as much as I did and that you have found some inspiration that you could carry into your own wedding. You can find more inspiration and ideas like this by viewing the other photoshoots we’ve featured, or if you’ve worried about the British weather on your wedding day, why not take a look at these rainy weddings and snowy weddings that just so ‘bad’ weather should not put a dampener on your day.
