Grow Your Own Wedding Flowers book launch
A few weeks ago the TNWC team were lucky enough to attend a wonderful afternoon tea to celebrate the launch of Grow Your Own Wedding Flowers by Georgie Newbery, a beautiful, insightful book that does exactly what it says on the tin; cleverly guiding you from start to finish in the whole planning process of growing and styling your own flowers for your big day.
The launch took place at the incredible Quince Tree in Clifton Nurseries, a hidden little gem in the middle of Little Venice, London. Upon entering under an arched canopy, settled among a row of tall white town houses, we were greeted by rows of fairy lit Christmas trees and found ourselves in a secret garden bursting full of flowers and foliage.
The Quince Tree is set within one of the old glasshouses, which as you can imagine created the most incredible natural light on a crisp winters day! We absolute fell in love with the venue and excitedly nattered about how beautiful it would be for a wedding with all it’s twinkly lights, checkerboard tiled floor and magical charm! If you are looking for an intimate wedding venue with a perfect romantic atmosphere we would definitely recommend checking it out.
After being served tasty canapes and treated with bubbles we took our seats at the beautifully set tables adorned with seasonal flowers, which of course were all grown and beautifully displayed by Georgie herself.
It was brilliant finally getting to meet Georgie in person, having been acquainted for a number of years. She is so incredibly passionate about her craft, and run’s one of the most successful independent flower businesses in the UK, growing her own flowers on her very own flower farm as well as providing a catalogue of workshops including DIY wedding flowers. We love that her focus is on British, eco-cut flowers and that she encourages people to use them to create their own individual wedding their way.
The afternoon was truly indulgent as we were treated to taster dishes from The Quince Tree’s wedding menu followed by a sumptuous afternoon tea. We may have had to loosen the belt buckles slightly after as it was all delicious!
To perfectly finish off our lovely afternoon, as the sun began to set, we were given the opportunity to try our hand at making our own buttonhole following a demonstration by Georgie (something she also explains how to do in the book). We all crafted away choosing our own flowers and attempted to replicate the perfect buttonhole Georgie had just created before us.
It was such a pleasure to be able to enjoy an afternoon with fellow bloggers, indulge in delicious food and play around with flowers in the most beautiful of settings. We must thank Georgie, Green Books and The Quince Tree for inviting and hosting a brilliant event.
