Embroidered wedding scroll

There are so many beautiful wedding ideas out there, but sometimes something pops into my inbox that just seems that little bit extra special.  When Caroline from REloved Boutique in Nottingham emailed me to tell me all about the beautiful embroidered wedding scrolls made by her friend Sally I was intrigued.

From her shed studio nicknamed Upsticks Boutique, Sally uses recycled, reclaimed and vintage fabrics to create what I can only describe as art – in particular, she makes these beautiful wedding scrolls with your wedding date and details hand-stitched into them.

They have a variety of uses, from a keepsake of the day (particularly beautiful when framed) to actual wedding invitations to be sent out to your guests.  She’s also started making ‘save the dates’ in a similar style, and is keen to expand into all elements of wedding stationery.

Caroline from REloved Boutique told me a bit more about Sally’s story: “Sally is a very brilliantly talented friend of mine from back in our school days, she’s always been a sewer and studied Textile and Fashion Design at University.  Since graduating she’s always to be found sewing madly away in her garden shed, surrounded by beautiful fabrics, all of which are vintage and reclaimed.”

“She spends a lot of time at local village jumble sales and consequently ever design is completely unique and a little bit different and very, very lovely!  Sally started by making bags and purses, then I asked her to come up with a range of products for my boutique.  It was when Sally started making the ‘New Baby’ embroideries that I started thinking about weddings too.”

I just love the handwritten look of the stitching…

“We’ve had more and more people coming in and asking about the personalised wedding embroideries, they are just a fab keepsake and the fact that each one can be designed totally with the couple in mind makes them completely unique – from the fabrics and colour schemes used, to the quotes and extra little details.  I’ve even had a lady cry when she came in to pick up one she’d had made for her sisters wedding!”

I love the idea of having one of these wedding scrolls framed as a keepsake of your wedding day – they remind me of those old fashioned framed pictures that have things like ‘home sweet home’ or the alphabet cross-stitched onto them.

As well as wedding scrolls and save the dates, Sally also makes a beautiful range of wash bags and make-up bags, and clutch bags that would be beautiful for bridesmaids – Caroline is having 6 made for her own bridesmaids who are having different dresses but the clutch bags to tie them all together.

Wedding scrolls start at around £40 but are dependent on the individual design and project.  Sally doesn’t currently have a website, but the wedding scrolls are available via Caroline at REloved Boutique.  For more information contact Caroline by email at caroline@relovedboutique.co.uk or phone on 07799 516 179.
