The Oak Grove
Secluded, outdoor setting for couples seeking a laid-back, yet beautifully curated summer wedding
Relaxed Luxury in the Heart of the Woods
Sitting between the villages of Upchurch and Lower Halstow, and set along the peaceful banks of the River Medway, The Oak Grove offers a secluded, outdoor setting for couples seeking a laid-back, yet beautifully curated summer wedding.
Surrounded by open farmland and ancient woodland, the venue features a fully licensed ‘living arbour’, a stunning natural structure for legal licensed ceremonies, blessings, and handfastings, all set alongside an elegant stretch tent that brings the outdoors in, while keeping you and your guests covered and comfortable.
Our venue is thoughtfully designed to provide everything you need for a smooth, stylish, and relaxed celebration. You’ll have access to our woodland kitchen, unique ‘horsebox’ toilet facilities with baby changing, and ample parking. We also offer viable disabled access to make sure every guest can enjoy the day with ease.
Our covered outdoor cocktail bar is the perfect place for guests to gather, relax and enjoy bespoke drinks beneath the trees, no matter the weather. Paired with our fully licensed main bar, you’ll have everything in place for a memorable, summer-long celebration.
This unique summer-only venue offers 22 dates per year, giving you exclusivity and a relaxed festival experience. With only one wedding a week, we can provide unrivalled setup time.
With capacity for up to 132 day guests and 160 in the evening (larger numbers by arrangement), The Oak Grove is your canvas for a relaxed, joy-filled wedding in nature, where every detail has been considered, and the good times flow from ceremony to last dance.
Sustainable Power at The Oak Grove
At The Oak Grove, sustainability has been part of our ethos from the very beginning. We installed our first solar panels back in 2010, and we’ve been expanding our renewable energy efforts ever since, all with the aim of running the venue as responsibly and beautifully as possible.
Our most recent upgrade is a 12kW solar array installed on the roof of our stables. While we host just one wedding each week, our dedicated team is on-site throughout the week, keeping everything running smoothly, from lighting and refrigeration to essential systems behind the scenes.
Biodiversity
At The Oak Grove, we let nature lead the way. We don’t use pesticides or chemicals, and our paths are gently cut through the landscape to preserve its wild, fairy-tale charm.
Wherever we plant, we choose bee- and insect-friendly species, often night-scented to attract bats, and we leave cut logs in place to create cosy habitats for overwintering wildlife. The result is a thriving haven for birds, insects, and mammals, a truly magical setting where nature is part of the celebration.
We continue to work with suppliers who work with locally sourced products from our bar stock to our eco-friendly confetti.
Solar
To make the most of the sunshine, we’ve also invested in a smart energy storage system. It captures excess solar energy during the day and powers the venue at night. Even better, it’s built from repurposed electric vehicle batteries, giving them a meaningful second life. In the winter months, when solar is limited, the system allows us to draw clean wind power from the grid at night and carry that energy through the day.
Currently, around 80% of the energy we use comes from renewable sources. The rest, drawn mostly at night, is primarily wind-generated.
This year, we’re expanding our solar capacity and increasing our storage to further reduce our reliance on the grid. It’s all part of our long-term commitment to minimising our environmental impact, and to offering couples a wedding day that’s quite literally powered by sunshine.
The Oak Grove is the most beautiful venue. We had our wedding here on the 17th May and I can honestly say it was the most special day.
The beauty and nature surrounding the venue is breathtaking and I keep having to pinch myself that we got married here! Tracy the Oak Grove Manager went above & beyond to ensure our day was exactly how we wanted and was in constant communication with us which is fantastic.
Roz, Bec & Audrey were absolutely amazing and were so attentive! Anyone thinking of getting married here, do it! Everyone at the Oak Grove was amazing and I could not recommend this venue enough, especially if you want to be looked after and giving a more personal wedding experience. – Mia & Paul
This must be the best wedding venue ever, and if this is the vibe you want, I would highly recommend it.
The staff was incredible throughout the entire day, and everything went seamlessly. I didn’t have to worry one bit, and the Pui helped manage the day without a fault. The servers were incredible, and one even stood by me holding a drink of Pimms for me for a while when I was greeting guests. Doing the aisle walk would have been so stressful without the girls sorting it for me; they were absolutely amazing, making sure everyone walked at the correct time.
There was also a risk of rain before the ceremony, but they assured me they would leave it to the last possible moment to decide where the ceremony would be. I have received so many compliments on the venue on how spacious it was, the entire vibe, the fairy lights, and even the cocktail cart was amazing. I would recommend this to absolutely anyone looking for an outdoor wedding.
My plan was to build my own wedding from scratch, but I knew that would mean a lot of work, yes, possibly cheaper. But you honestly get what you pay for with this venue. Furniture, plates and cutlery, they have their own decor which you can add to, they have beautiful flooring and an amazing, relaxing area. The bar serves anything you could want. The cocktail cart was amazing.
You have a kitchen area where we prepped our own appetisers. The ceremony site was gorgeous. The speaker they have for evening dancing is just amazing, and the way it reduces the noise the further away you are was so useful when the babies were sleeping in the couch area.
And what made it was the staff, they ran everything sooo seamlessly, and you would never have noticed them around. We had a crisis with the microphones, but that was sorted very quickly. – Paige
