Who are we...
I’m Bryony (Mae), founder of Bryony Mae Flowers, a creative floral design studio based in the village of Hassocks in West Sussex. My style is loose, natural, a little wild: flowers full of joy, colour, texture and fragrance.
Bryony Mae Flowers creates bespoke seasonal, natural flowers with a romantic wild-style feel for weddings and events in Sussex, Surrey and Kent. I love to use British flowers whenever I can, sourcing from local Sussex flower farms and growers as well as British flower specialist and wholesalers.
My approach is collaborative and we can work together to create flowers that are really ‘you’, as I believe each wedding should be as unique as the couple themselves.
I offer couples in Sussex and the surrounding areas, a bespoke floral design service with as many personal touches as desired as well as an off-the-peg wildflower wedding package of British grown flowers for smaller intimate celebrations.
I’ve always loved flowers and as child was forever picking wildflowers, pressing flowers and making perfume with petals, but it took me a long time to make flowers my actual job. It was only after many years of working in advertising that I finally took the plunge and retrained as florist after a redundancy.
And in 2018, Bryony Mae Flowers was born. Initially operating from my kitchen table, I am now happily ensconced in my home studio in Hassocks, a pretty village in West Sussex.
Flowers are so evocative to me and can tell a story – of a relationship, a life lived, a memory or even just a moment in time. Using them like this is just one of the many reasons I love my job!
- I love using seasonal British flowers whenever I can and source from a range of local growers near me. These flowers are grown without pesticides or chemicals, with no air miles, are full of fragrance, colour and character.
- I don’t use dyed, painted or bleached flowers.
- I also avoid floral foam and single use plastic, focussing on reusable mechanics for arrangements like balls of chicken wire and moss as well as compostable alternatives like agra wool, if required.
- I encourage my couples to gift their flowers to guests (or keep themselves!) but failing that I will donate to be enjoyed beyond your wedding or dispose of separately as green waste.
- I’ll deliver your bouquets in jam jars that can be recycled (rather than plastic or single use vases) and encourage every arrangement to be reused or repurposed throughout your day.
