Rooted Ceremonies

I hold a deep reverence for the natural world, as well as grief for the way that this planet and our fellow inhabitants are treated when we forget our interconnectedness. Meaningful ceremony for me is about bringing us back into connection with one another and the natural world we are part of. It’s also about rejecting the pressures to consume and to leave a trail of waste behind our ceremonies and celebrations.

I advocate for conscious celebration, and ceremony that stirs us deep in our hearts through words, rituals, beauty, joy-filled tears and laughter- that’s what the ceremonies I host are all about!

My personal practices involve using handcrafted props and materials, wearing second-hand outfits, travelling by train or electric car, and using ethical bankers, green electricity suppliers and search engines. I promote eco and community venues including our very own off grid solar-heated lakeside building.

My standard* price for weddings, vow renewals, elopements and handfasting ceremonies is £650.

This is for a ceremony lasting between 30 and 60 minutes, that is bespoke and personalised to you.

It will usually include a telling of your love story, allowing all your audience to feel really connected to you as they get to hear about the key moments in your relationship journey- such as how you met, how you fell in love, the ways you have grown together and your dreams for your future. I gather the elements to write this story during our meetings together, but also by inviting you to journal with some reflective prompts that I provide.

As well as your love story, your ceremony can include as many other rituals or symbolic actions as you like. I help you design and plan it all and provide all the ritual materials you might need, or I can help you select them if you want to use items you already have.

I can also lend you decorative items like a wedding arch, drapes or bunting (on a trust basis at no cost), to use on the day and return to me after the day is over. I do all I can to help you avoid having to go out and source items for a single use!

Once I have crafted the script, I will share it with you- in written form, and recorded as well if you like- so that you can take it all in, suggest any edits, and start to prepare for how it will feel on the day.

During the process of preparing for your ceremony, we will have as many calls/ video calls, meet ups or email exchanges as we need to allow for us to get to know each other, feel really comfortable with one another, and guarantee that I craft and deliver a ceremony that is really YOU!

If it’s appropriate, we can also rehearse your ceremony via video call, at the venue, or in my home community – where we can use a beautiful eco building** or an outdoor space.

I also offer no limit to contact via phone, email and video call before the ceremony, so you don’t need to hold back if you have any questions or things you want to talk over or clarify.

My travel from my home in Hockerton, Nottinghamshire to your ceremony location or to any in person meet ups is included within my price if it is within a range of 40 miles. If I need to travel further, I charge 0.45p per mile or the price of a train ticket.

I offer a free no-obligation discovery call before you commit to booking. If you decide to go ahead, a 50% non-refundable booking fee is then required to secure the date. The remainder is payable 8 weeks before the ceremony.

* If you are planning a much shorter or simpler ceremony, for example without a love story and just a single ritual, or perhaps a sharing circle without any rituals, then my basic rate of £400 may apply if your ceremony location is within 40 miles of my home.

** This ecovenue can also be hired out for the ceremony itself, at approximately £300 for a 3.5 hour hire window. It is appropriate for a micro-ceremony with up to 20 guests. Download the brochure for more information.
