Louise and Andrew’s cosy winter wedding at River Cottage with spring inspired bouquet and dapper groomsmen
We might be headed into summer but this cosy winter wedding held at River Cottage in Devon reminds us of all that is great about a winter wedding done well. Louise and Andrew had an intimate wedding with just 50 of their friends and family, with excellent local food (obviously!) and seasonal touches that embraced the farm venue. I also particularly love the attention they put in for the babies and children at this wedding – some great ideas. Plus gorgeous photography from Larissa Joice who we’ve featured previously here.
Over to Louise to tell us more…

Now this is what a canapé table should look like. Along with weddings, food is another big passion of mine, and I think it can often get overlooked, neglected, or become an afterthought when planning your big day. Yet I think it’s such an integral part of the day and can either turn out a real flop or an utter delight.
With my moan out the way, I shall promise to try and find more creative and beautiful looking wedding food ideas to inspire you all for your own weddings. To get started, what about this lovely rustic canapé display? This wouldn’t look out of place at a summer wedding, or an autumn wedding, just simple change the food on offer to reflect the seasons.
Here they’ve kept it simple with white tablecloths and a variety of wooden boards, bowls and other ephemera stacked up to create this enticing display. We had something similar for our wedding, albeit it on a much smaller scale – we had kilner jars of olives and finely sliced salami all popped on a table for people to help themselves to.

How cute are these miniature ice cream cones!! I knew I had to share them with you all. I know that in the UK we haven’t had a great summer, but these are a little ray of sunshine.
Imagine tiny wafer cones filled with organic chocolate ice cream, homemade raspberry ripple or a zingy strawberry sorbet. What a fantastic alternative to the standard dessert, or maybe you want to serve sweet canapes for your guests instead of savoury ones.
