Who are we...
I’m celebrant Joy and, like you, I care a lot about our beautiful earth! I design and host meaningful, nature-inspired wedding, handfasting and vow renewal ceremonies that connect us with ourselves, each other and the earth. I’d love to hear your ceremony ideas.
Rooted Ceremonies is led by me, Joy Justice, independent heart-led celebrant.
As a natural introvert and empath, I love creating space for others to express themselves, including the quieter voices. The stage I stand on radiates light onto other people! I tune in and draw out your ideas before I unleash my own creativity. Listening is my superpower, and my curiosity and authenticity help us get to the heart of what really matters to you.
My special touches can include hand dried petal confetti, hosting of pre-wedding crafty gatherings for you and your close friends, broomstick making workshops (for a ‘jumping the broom ritual’), nature inspired ritual or even leading your audience in song.
The ceremonies I host are about connecting deeper to ourselves, each other and the earth. This happens through the design and preparation of the ceremony and the ways that everyone present is inclusively welcomed and held.
I help you to choose, or invent rituals or other elements within your ceremony that represent you and your journeys- where you come from, the spiritual, religious or cultural frameworks that you each connect to. We can honour your ancestors or incorporate family members, children or pets. It’s not about show, or appropriation, but it’s about heart and authenticity. That in itself is beautiful, deeply moving, and creates long lasting feelings of connection!
My radiant warmth and calm presence will help you to feel more at ease as you dream up, and prepare for a wedding or vow renewal ceremony that aligns with your values and fits your personalities and identities.
I also co-run a co-operatively owned lake-side indoor eco venue for micro-ceremonies for up to 20 guests.
I hold a deep reverence for the natural world, as well as grief for the way that this planet and our fellow inhabitants are treated when we forget our interconnectedness. Meaningful ceremony for me is about bringing us back into connection with one another and the natural world we are part of. It’s also about rejecting the pressures to consume and to leave a trail of waste behind our ceremonies and celebrations.
I advocate for conscious celebration, and ceremony that stirs us deep in our hearts through words, rituals, beauty, joy-filled tears and laughter- that’s what the ceremonies I host are all about!
My personal practices involve using handcrafted props and materials, wearing second-hand outfits, travelling by train or electric car, and using ethical bankers, green electricity suppliers and search engines. I promote eco and community venues including our very own off grid solar-heated lakeside building.
