River Cottage HQ is a fantastic wedding venue for your ceremony and celebration. Our 100 acre organic farm is tucked amongst rolling hills on the Dorset and Devon border.
River Cottage isn’t just an iconic venue in Devon; it’s also an award-winning destination for unforgettable weddings! Set on 65 acres of organic farmland near the stunning Jurassic Coast, River Cottage offers breathtaking backdrops for your special day.
Fully licensed for civil ceremonies and partnerships, you can choose to exchange vows in Hugh’s famous farmhouse, the beautifully refurbished barn with views over the Axe Valley, or our charming walled garden. The Threshing Barn accommodates up to 100 seated guests for your ceremony and 60 for dining, transforming into a dance floor for 120 guests in the evening. After your celebration, retire to our lovely 17th-century farmhouse.
For larger weddings, our expansive grounds are perfect for marquees and glamping. We can organise shelter for outdoor ceremonies and facilities for DJs and live bands to keep the party going.
Our fantastic wedding packages include seasonal menus focused on exceptional food, crafted with the finest homegrown, local, organic, and seasonal ingredients from our award-winning cookery school. Wedding suppliers can access the venue on the morning of your wedding day for seamless setup. Check out our suppliers directory for extra special touches.

Terms and Conditions: Free Seasonal Cocktail Arrival Drinks for all weddings who have their show round in November and book a 2025 wedding. *Available for up to 70 people, one glass per person.
From the outset of River Cottage HQ, the intention was to create a site that was low carbon, low energy and that considered the various issues of sustainability on the site. River Cottage developed a holistic approach for the site that would assure nothing went to waste and that all aspects of the energy creation, infrastructure and physical build were realised with maximum sustainability.
Everything from the materials sourced to the systems used, strives to have minimal impact on the environment. We harvest rainwater from our roof and the Proven WT2500 wind turbine at the top of our hill supplies some of the electricity for the site. We are ambassadors for the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We are proud that our farm carries organic certification as accredited by the Soil Association and is managed under Countryside and Environmental Stewardship; schemes run by Natural England.
