Cake love: a chic and natural cheese tower as an alternative to a sweet wedding cake
Today for my Cake Love blog post I’m sharing a wedding cake made from cheese. I thought I’d shared one before, but looking back it doesn’t look like I have, despite how popular they are as an alternative to sweet cake. There are all kinds of ways of doing a cheese wedding cake, but this one looks quite chic with its figs, grapes and physalis fruit, and ivy leaves.
I wanted to share a ‘cheese cake’ because today I am out on a cheesemaking course – yes, really! It’s my birthday treat from Mr Rigg and I’m finally cashing it in and heading over to the fabulous sounding School of Artisan Food. If you follow me on Facebook you might have spotted that I have a huge love for food, and in particular for all things dairy – so a day spent learning to make my own butter, yoghurt and soft cheese sounds pretty much like heaven for me.
If you’d still like a wedding cake topper, why not steal this great idea from my friend Jen who got married back in April – they topped theirs with knitted bride and groom mice, which I think is a really fun and quirky way to top off a cheese wedding cake.
