Cake love: a traditional white wedding cake with a dainty teacup topper
Charlie / 18 May 2012
Now in terms of the actual wedding cake, this is about traditional as I’ve got on my Cake Love feature – expertly iced white tiers with perfect pale pink sugar decorations aren’t usually my cup of tea…however, when topped with a dainty teacup with a tiny bunch of flowers it becomes pretty perfect.
If you’re looking for a more traditional looking wedding cake that has a bit of a sparkle, then this would be my recommendation. It would be especially fitting if you were serving afternoon tea, and obviously if pink’s not your thing you could just change it up a bit to suit your tastes.
My guess at the flowers in the teacup here are wax flowers and maybe something like a faded pink heather (anyone with better knowledge please let me know in the comments below) but you could really go with anything seasonal.
These flowers look like they have been just simply popped in the teacup, but if you want something a bit more showy you could create more of a mini display in your teacup – when I went on the Green & Gorgeous flower arranging course we were taught how to create a teacup arrangement and they looked so beautiful.
Here’s another idea for using a vintage teacup as a wedding cake topper with a bunch of sweetpeas.
