Cake love: a lavender wedding cake stack of crepes

Lavender crepe wedding cake

What a pretty wedding cake this is, what with the dusting of icing sugar and the decoration of lavender and ferns.  What is most impressive is that it’s made entirely of paper thin crepes – no sponge cake here.

There are all kinds of alternatives to your traditional wedding cake, but this isn’t one I’ve seen before and perfect if want something a bit different.  I’m not sure how you eat it – whether you’d cut slices normally, or whether you’d dish out the layers of crepes to your guests – any thoughts?

If you are having some French influences then this could be a lovely tie in with those wonderful crepes that France does so well – and with the added decoration of some pretty lavender sprigs very elegant.  There is lots more alternative and unique wedding cake inspiration to be found in the Cake Love archives.
