Charming country house wedding venue nestled in the Brecon Beacons
Who are we...
Penpont is fundamentally a home and not just a wedding venue. Gavin and Vina choose to host a small number of weddings every year to couples who want to steer away from run of the mill venues and who would feel relaxed and easy with Penpont’s quirkiness and beauty.
Nestled into the foothills of the Brecon Beacons, Penpont lies right beside the River Usk. It’s a charming combination of mellowed grandeur, intimate scale and pastoral splendour making it a very special wedding venue.
The Grade 2* listed Stables were originally built in 1790. Now beautifully restored, it can provide all the space you need to host your wedding celebration. Rustic and authentic to its historical roots it offers a wonderful backdrop for your decorations and at the same time comfortable and modern facilities.
The Stables’ dining room can seat up to 80 people within the stable bays along with additional ‘chill out’ areas in The Museum Room opposite.
The Hayloft upstairs (also licenced for civil ceremonies) is perfect for your evening reception with plenty of room for dancing and a stage for your DJ or band.
There’s a combination of accommodation - the self-catering Courtyard Wing, Bed & Breakfast in the mansion and camping in the Rose Garden and riverfront.
Surrounding the buildings are 50 acres of garden and grounds with the River Usk running right through the middle. You and your guests will be free to wander through the gardens, get lost in the Greenman Maze, lie in wild flower meadows, meet the topiary elephants, run round the racing labyrinth, wild swim in the river, play croquet, and sit under starry skies as the bonfire warms you at the end of a perfect day.
This historic rural estate has remained in the same family since it was built in 1666. Time has stood still for much of the last century which has contributed to its unspoilt charm and tranquillity. However, in the last 20 years a challenging yet sympathetic restoration programme has been undertaken to restore the buildings to their former glory, using traditional building materials, to help maintain a sense of history and place, with an objective to develop a viable future. Our ethos here is to tread lightly upon the earth, to endeavour to be sustainable, and protect the delicate environment that we manage. We try to create an ambience that reflects this and choose to use and support local suppliers and contractors. We are passionate about organic food and have dedicated the walled gardens at Penpont for vegetable, fruit and flower production, recycle our waste as best we can and heat the entire complex with a woodchip boiler - sourcing wood from our managed woodlands on the estate.
