I have no doubt that today’s bluebell wood wedding inspiration shoot will absolutely blow you away. It certainly had me Googling the nearest bluebell wood to dance among. And you’ll be pleased to know that this stunning location could be the magical setting for your big day.
The shoot was lovingly created and styled by Fern and Field, the team behind the weddings at Farnell Farm in Kent. It features dreamy whimsical wedding dresses, outdoor woodland ceremony inspiration, tipi tents hidden in secluded fields and nature inspired details. Plus two of our recommended suppliers are featured.
Polly from Fern and Field told us more about the shoot, the inspiration, and the venue…
A bluebell wood wedding
“Inspired by the natural surroundings at the outdoor wedding venue, this bridal inspirational shoot takes it’s palette from the wild English bluebells native to Farnell Farms ancient woodland, which we’ve complimented with peach tones and pops of gold.”
Woodland inspired wedding styling
The bluebell wood is such a stunning location that simple styling is all that is needed:
“An antique bicycle bursting with wedding flowers stands at the entrance to the woods, and helps to set the scene of our styled shoot. Handmade wooden signage works in harmony with our secluded woodland venue and leads into the heavy scented bluebell woods.
We used reclaimed vintage wooden benches from Anthology Vintage Hire, and a handmade silver birch arch adorned with flowers, to create a tranquil ceremony area fitting for a woodland blessing, surrounded by nature.”
Simple, natural bridal style
As with the location, they applied the same simple styling to the first bridal look:
“With a focus on beauty in nature this first look is refreshingly simple with little detail to the bridal gown from alternative bridal boutique The Wild Heart Bridal. Natural effortless hair and make-up by Ellie Gill, a delicate floral crown and bare feet, draw focus to the bride and her surroundings.”
Loose and wild floral arrangements
“Helen and Anna of Bluebelle Creative based in Whitstable, created an abundance of stunning floral displays which capture our concept perfectly and allow the colour palette to flow through the entire shoot.
The bridal bouquet is hand-tied in silk to give the appearance that each stem has been picked as the bride whimsically walks through the farmland.”
Wild meadow wedding venue
Farnell Farm is also home to The Twenty Five Acre Field, which has amazing views across the High Weald. Surrounded by woodland and fields, the secluded meadow plays the second location for the inspiration shoot.
“Leading up to the field sits the unmistakable shape of two white canvas Kata Tipis, provided by Maka Tipi which offers an alternative tent wedding venue.”
Whimsical blush wedding dress
The second bridal look is as stunning as the first. I love the whimsical, fairytale feel of the blush tulle skirt and lace detailing.
Vintage and reclaimed wedding decor
To complement the natural laid-back style of the shoot, bare wood, vintage decor and loose florals were used:
“We worked closely with Freya at The Wealden Vintage Crockery Co. to select vintage china, cutlery and glassware in tones of peach and blue, which alongside bespoke stationery by Flourish & Lace and eye catching floral arrangements add depth and interest to the bare wood of reclaimed vintage trestle tables.”
A floral semi-naked wedding cake
To finish off the inspiration shoot a gorgeous semi-naked cake was created:
“Flossie Pops Cakery created the most divine sweet vanilla sponge naked wedding cake hand painted in gold and decorated with simple floristry, to sit proud on a large oak stump with our quintessentially English landscape as it’s backdrop.”
A bluebell wood wedding of your own
If its a woodland or bluebell wood wedding you are after then you are in luck as Fern & Field host a number of weddings each year at Farnell Farm. There is a choice of stunning exclusive outdoor locations to form the backdrop to a truly unique wedding day. These include both the ancient bluebell woods and Twenty Five Acre Field featured, and a lake and a vineyard. To ensure that farming is still at the heart of their business the numbers are limited though so if you are interested I would definitely recommended getting in touch pronto.

Bluebell Styled Shoot - Flossie Pops Cakery on 7. April, 2017
[…] Last May, I was asked by a local venue to produce a semi-naked style for a styled shoot at a beautiful woodland venue in Rolvenden, Kent. This style is very popular indeed this year, with the addition of metallic elements (like this cake), caramel or chocolate drips and fresh flowers, macarons and berries too. You can see the full feature and all the lovely images on The Natural Wedding Company blog here. […]
