Vintage-eco wedding photoshoot

Last autumn a group of local Kent wedding businesses got together to create a wedding photoshoot inspired by all things vintage and eco-friendly.  They created a number of different looks and I have some of them here today to share with you, featuring some pretty vintage dresses, dainty crockery, lovely florals and an exquisite brooch bouquet.

The shoot was another collaboration between TNWC photographer Rebecca Douglas and make-up artist Suzanna who created this ethereal harvest shoot I featured last year.  This time, Rebecca and Suzanna swapped the English country field for the beautiful eco-chic The Pines Calyx wedding venue, also one of our TNWC businesses.

Rebecca told me a bit more about the shoot: “The key themes underpinning it were a blend of vintage apparel, rich, seasonal colours and eco-friendly suppliers including myself and the Pines Calyx, and all suppliers were local.  We were totally blessed with the weather and the shoot came together beautifully.”

Joanne who created the florals said she wanted to create something very natural, using traditional flowers and plants.  “The theme for the shoot was eco so all of the flowers and foliages in the bouquet were picked from my own or friends and family members gardens. It was very much about locally sourced (doesn’t get more local than my back garden!) seasonal flowers, that come from a natural setting.”

It turns out that Jake the ‘groom’ already had quite a quirky sense of style, so it didn’t take the team much to create the look they wanted.  Suzanna said: “I love the quirky, original way he dresses.  His style reflects the fact that he is an Artist.  He also has a subtle vintage element to his dress style, particularly his glasses & hair (which needed minimal styling).  I wanted to challenge people’s perception of what the norm is for a groom.  To fit my brief, I simply asked him to dress in his best togs, leaving his artistic nature to produce the look!”

For the afternoon tea they styled it with a vintage feel from a colour scheme focusing on a rich palette of gold, red and white, and including some earthy browns.  I love the tiny extra details such as the antique sugar tongs, it’s items like this that I think make a vintage inspired afternoon tea feel really genuine when recreating it for a wedding.

Make-up artist Suzanna also ensured that all the make-up she used fitted with the eco ethos of the shoot.  A big thank you to Rebecca Douglas for sharing these beautiful photographs with us, and I hope they’ve provided you with some inspiration or ideas for your own wedding.
