Tree trunks, lanterns and dried leaves – inspiration for bringing an autumn outdoor wedding inside

Lantern lit outdoor autumn wedding ceremony

Whilst I can’t promise that an outdoor wedding ceremony is a possibility weather-wise in the UK, I still think this could inspire you for an indoor autumn wedding.  I always dreamed of getting married outside, surrounded by nature, but even in May (and for a number of other reasons) we decided not to – instead, I tried to bring the outside in.  We decorated our church with bundles of cow parsley and even a few small trees.

For an autumn wedding, (depending on what you’re wedding venue will allow) just like above, you could line the aisle with tree trunks topped with flickering candles in glass lanterns, and scatter dried leaves around the bases.  For a natural look on a budget, keep your decorations simple and unfussy – just choose a few pieces.

All this week I’m celebrating autumn weddings with lots of ideas and inspiration – so check out all the ideas in my natural autumn wedding special.

Love this idea, We are doing a similar thing. We are getting married in the lake district where i live and i have a love for all things natural and outdoors. I have left a comment on the photo strip wedding invites regarding our save the dates postcard idea we have made up to send to Australia to my fiancee’s family. I want to have lots of natural things for our wedding, for example i am using local slate for the place name cards, I am looking for a piece of tree trunk which I am going to use for the cake stand, but im always looking for other ideas along the way.

Your wedding sounds like it is going to be so lovely and really reflect the place you are getting married – I think it is such a nice way to approach your wedding and especially if you love nature and the outdoors x

I live in Essex and am trying to find somewhere that I can buy tree logs like this for my weddings, any ideas please? Thank you

Hi Kathy, apologies for slow reply. I think my advice for these kind of tree trunk pieces / logs would be to get in touch with a local tree surgeon and find out if they could give you/sell you off-cuts x
