I don’t know about you, but here it’s turned decidedly chilly and autumnal in the past few days. Despite lighting our wood burning stove last night (how I’ve missed it!) I’m loathe to completely let go of the summer. These bottles that have been wrapped in multicoloured wool and yarn brought a bit of cheer into my morning, and I thought you might like them too.
Thinking about it now, they’d also be quite appropriate for an autumn wedding, especially in the reds and oranges used here. The wedding that these beautiful vases came from was full of textiles and colourful objects from the couples travels to India, and I’m a great advocate of only incorporating things into your wedding if they a) mean something to you, or b) are just really nice.
I imagine creating each of these vases must have taken some time, so I would suggest you’d have to really be into your knitting to want to make enough for your wedding – but if that’s a big bit of your life why wouldn’t you want to bring a little of that to your wedding day?
When you see so many pretty ideas on wedding blogs and in magazines, it’s so easy to think “I want it to look like that”. I often wonder when I feel like that, whether I actually mean “I want it to feel like that.” My advice would to be ask yourself why you are drawn to it and then whether it really needs to be just like you saw in the picture, or whether you can make it your own.
After all that is said though, if you really love an idea and are prepared to spend the time making it – and enjoy the making – then go for it! If you’d like to see more of the details from this wedding, you can check out the original blog feature a Handmade Atlanta Wedding.
