Cake love: a rustic cream wedding cake with herbs and ferns

I wanted to share a wedding cake today that was a bit wild and fanciful (but of course in a very natural way), so I settled on this mass of rustic cream covered layers decorated with a tangle of herbs and flowers, crowned with delicate green ferns.
Sometimes I look at the pictures of the cakes from our wedding and whilst I absolutely loved that they were all brought and made by our family and friends, I do wish there had been one cake decorated wildly without abandon with flowers and herbs.
As with all things wedding, I think it’s important not to try and do everything you’ve ever seen on a wedding blog or featured in a pretty wedding – it can get a bit exhausting and you’re likely to end up with a cluttered wedding day. Instead, I advocate saving those ideas that don’t make it to your wedding day and incorporating them into future celebrations – birthday parties, christenings, Christmas, Easter, dinner with friends, or just ‘because’.
