A down-to-earth rustic wedding at a camp in the woods

American camping style wedding

It feels like a while since I shared some pictures from weddings around the blog world that I find inspiring.  If you’re new to the blog you’ll find out I’m all about down-to-earth weddings, those that looks beautiful but not because they’ve had tons of money thrown at them or are totally over-done in details.

There is just something about certain weddings that captures me for their simplicity and what I can only imagine is a trueness to the couple getting married.  I loved this rustic American camp wedding, not only because of the beautiful setting – and I’m delighted that we’re getting more venues like this in the UK – but there is this ‘feel’ to this wedding that is very genuine.

I’m a huge fan of walking to the wedding ceremony as a group, which is something we chose to do with our guests, and I love that they were accompanied by musicians.

The ceremony programmes or order of service we designed to look like giant matchbooks, and when opened up inside included a pocket of confetti.

The couple used an eclectic collection of recycled bottles, jars and even tins to hold their flowers, which seemed to be in soft woodland colours – shades of green, purple, browns and white.

In the evening there was a rustic bar serving drinks, with a few nice details such as flag cocktail sticks, labels detailing the drinks on offer and a string of bunting along the front of the bar.

Nothing about this wedding seems contrived or overly done-up, it seems like a genuine and beautiful reflection of this couple, with some lovely touches.  I’m getting stuck with my words here, not finding the right ones to describe what it is I’m getting at – hopefully the pictures will speak for themselves and save me making a bad attempt at describing it to you!

For those of you who want to be inspired some more, take a look at all the photos from this Michigan camp wedding.
