Rusty old graters become beautiful and magical lanterns for a rustic wedding
Charlie / 29 February 2012
When you see those pictures above how could I not share them with you? What an utterly genius idea – I know I am always saying this, but why don’t I think of simple but deeply clever ideas like this. Those rusty old cheese graters you spot at carboots and think how they have a rather lovely patina to them but you’d never use them in your kitchen so what would you do with them?
Well, now I know what I’d do with rusty old graters if I see them – buy them and pop them over a tealight to create a beautiful, atmospheric lantern. These ones are from Re-found Objects (one of my favourite websites and I one day hope to visit their shop in Northumberland) – but I think they might be out of stock. Just keep your eyes peeled at carboots – a lovely alternative to jam jar lanterns at your wedding.
