yellow and red natural buttonhole

I do think boys can often get overlooked when it comes to wedding blogs, and I’m no exception – I need to share more inspiration for grooms and their best men.  After all, for many marriages it wouldn’t be a wedding without them.  Other than striking suits, buttonholes are one area that a groom can ‘accessorise’ himself, albeit probably chosen by the bride.

I spotted these really interest floral buttonholes on Wookie Wedding Flowers’ Facebook page – when I say ‘floral’ there aren’t many flowers, but they are along those lines using natural plants and foliage, and some flowers.  So if you’re looking for something a bit more unusual but not completely out-there why not take inspiration from some of these.  I also got in touch with Amy from Wookie Wedding Flowers to find out what these beautiful plants are (the above picture is of yellow solidago and red heather).

I love this winter buttonhole of white Snowberries…

These purple calicarpa berries look striking again the lime green ‘feeling green’ chrysanthemums…

This is one of my favourites – a soft country buttonhole of fragrants herbs and bluey-purple limonium looks modern but rustic against this oatmeal suit…

I love these tall green amaranthus – I haven’t seen these before and really like the idea of using a single colour and creating a taller buttonhole…

I would never have thought a sunflower could be used as a buttonhole – but why not?  They do come in all sizes and colours, they are also easy to grow so you could plant a selection yourself and get your florist to make them into buttonholes for you…

Perhaps not that unusual to use lavender for buttonholes, but again I like the use of a single flower and colour and it looks elegant yet romantic against these grey suits…

Green ivy flowers and cute furry seed heads – Amy tells me they were some kind of weed from her garden – it just shows you what you can use!  Even weeds can be incorporated into your buttonholes to produce something smart, but quirky.

And finally, a gorgeous buttonhole of blackberries just blushing purple (wouldn’t they go well with this gorgeous blackberry bouquet?)…
