Winter wedding ideas inspired by my visit to Paris this Christmas

If you read the blog regularly you might know that I recently spent the weekend in Paris with my little sister Izzy.  We had a lovely time and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere in Paris at Christmas – from the twinkly lights strung from every tree and across ever street, to the incredible shop window displays.  Paris at Christmas is truly magical and well worth a visit to anyone interested – perfect for a honeymoon if you’re not wanting to laze on a beach getting a tan. So having selected those bits that stuck in my mind from our weekend in …

The Natural Wedding Company in 2011 – my favourite bits

What a year 2011 has been for me – most importantly it was the year we got married.  It has also been a year of change and growth, and as I head into 2012 I will be celebrating 5 years of The Natural Wedding Company – this beautiful website for couples planning a more natural wedding that grew from a tiny idea I had at University. I know that Christmas and New Year for many couples is a time of celebration as boys (and girls!) get down on one knee and ask that all important question – “Will you marry …

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas 2011

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas!  The blog will be quieter over the next week as I make more time for relaxing, cooking Christmas food, watching cheesey films and enjoying wintry walks with my husband and dog.  I leave you with one of my favourite festive images and wish you a wonderful week with your families and friends. If you are just starting out on your wedding planning journey, do take a look around the directory (it’s up there at the top of the page in the luggage tag) and the blog archives.  If you are looking for something specific …

A natural and rustic wreath for my front door this Christmas

This morning I wanted to share a quick snap of my front door with its Christmas wreath.  Everything has been rather last minute this year (our Christmas tree is still not up!) and I hadn’t really given a thought to where I would get a Christmas wreath.  Usually I go for something really simple, just lots of greenery, like fir branches, and maybe a splash of colour from a ribbon to tie it to the front door. When I thought I’d left it too late I was saved by one of the lovely businesses on my directory who was able …

A bleak midwinter snowy wedding

I kind of wish it looked like this outside.  I do envy places that get snow like this ever Christmas – I love the idea of being stuck inside with a roaring log fire and a blizzard blowing outside.  Enough of my romanticising, I just really wanted to share these beautiful snowy wedding photos with you all.  They show that extreme weather on your wedding day can be fun. If I was to get married in the snow I would like to wear brown leather boots like this bride – and most definitely a pair of fine knee-high woollen socks! …

Red and white inspiration for a Christmas wedding or celebration using cranberries, candles and fircones

The countdown to Christmas has begun, it is less than a week away so I wanted to share some more Christmas wedding ideas, although I think they could be equally lovely for your home. I love this easy idea of filling cut-off brown paper bags with fresh cranberries, and then popping a white candle in each.  Without a table number they would be great on your Christmas table. And how about these cute frosted fircones with their place names?  Pieces of recycled red card with your guests names stamped in white ink is equally festive – I am so used …

Medal buttonholes made from wood and vintage fabric

I thought these were so inspired when I spotted them on Etsy.  Made in the UK from a slice of a tree branch and hand-stitched vintage fabrics I think they would make great buttonholes.  They are quirky and a bit different, and I love the handcrafted and natural look of them.  They are made as brooches so come with a metal pin on the back, easy to fasten to suits. They are available from Etsy seller Little Peche and cost £8 each.  What do you think?
