Mismatched vintage floral bridesmaid dresses

Charlie / 6 September 2010

There are so many brides now choosing to have mismatched dresses for their bridesmaids and I think it’s great.

I particularly love these floral dresses, and love the idea that you could use unique vintage dresses rather than the traditional mass-produced bridesmaid dresses.

I LOVE mismatched bridesmaids dresses! I think it looks SO much better than everyone wearing the same dress where someone inevitably doesn’t look as cute as someone else.

I agree, mismatched all the way! I’m only having my sister as a bridesmaid, so there’s only one bridesmaid dress, but I’d definitely go for different dresses if I was having more.

I love this idea – does anyone know where to begin to find floral patterns? I don’t want anything too “child-like” but love the idea of incorporating florals into my lovely maids dresses :)

Thanks for your message and apologies the delay in replying – it’s such a pretty idea this and if I’d had more than just one bridesmaid I think I’d have stolen this look myself. If you’re looking for floral fabric you could try Ebay or Etsy (www.etsy.com) or a local fabric shop – mine has a really good selection of flora fabric. Then it’s just finding someone to make them and in a pattern/style you like, I’m sure something simple wouldn’t look childlike in floral fabric, and I bet with grown-up or glamorous accessories your bridesmaids would look lovely.

I’m the bride from the first pic and we found all the bridesmaid dress fabrics on http://www.QuiltHome.com …soooo many choices, and you can search by colour, which helps when you’re trying to build a certain colour palette.

Thanks for getting in touch Angie and sharing the details of where you found the fabric – I’m sure this will be of great help to other brides-to-be xXx

Hi AngieMontreal, i love the bridesmaid dress style as well, can you please send me more pics of your bridal party, so i could try and get a similar dress. I guess I will have to get them made somehow, it will be challenging since we live in a rural town in BC. We are doing a vintage themed wedding and riding vintage bicycles, these dress styles would be perfect my email is juicytoot30@hotmail.com Thanks so much
